Being married to a marine was hard, he worked alot and was always stressed. I stressed on trying to be as busy as him so I would not ever be considered a dependapotamis. He got injured overseas and came back with a bad back began to feel useless and less manly because he could not be as sexual as before and pushed me so far away he basically led me to one of his friends and asked him to please me (sexually). I try so hard to get him to try and talk to me, to try dating again but all he does is zone out and go act stupid with friends. I am starting to give up on us because it seems he already has.

I heard that being the partner of a military man is the worst. They're always the ones who tend to have psychological and emotional problems, because of the training they had to go through.

Unfortunately, to be realistic, I think it would take years of serious therapy to get your husband to be an emotionally stable person again. The behaviors you described sound like the symptoms of a much worse underlying psychological problem.

That's what the military does to men - makes them think they have to be macho all the time, and if they're not this specific kind of person, they're worthless...

I personally would never marry a military man.

Good luck to you.

notafan, I'm sorry to hear your husband was injured and yiu are having problems. I don't know where you live but I suggest you get your husband an appointment at the nearest VA hospital. They have special programs for military people returning toi the states. They totally understand what you both arre going through and only want to help make it better, There is no other place that will treat yiu with as much care, compasion and dedication. If it is at all possible go see them soon.

I thanks for your advise "Jadzea" but sadly the VA is not much help, if you have heard the news about them lately they dont really help Veterans they just put them on a waiting list and ignore them for months. I am going to keep pushing my husband to seek help of course but has already explained to me and "written it in stone" that he wants different things than I so there is no future for us... which I should have seen coming if I didn't wear rose colored glasses... *tears up

Maybe once he getting some help and feeling better and hopefully his thoughts about your marriage will change . The VA system is horrible and your husband deserves treatment now not months down the road .

I am so sorry your going through all this. *hugs*
