I have a friend that tends to not pay attention and tends to give off the vibe that she does not give a crap. She always has conversations with people through texting when we are together and never seems to hear or care about what I am saying. When I call her out on it she says she just has ADD but she really is just texting, don't think ADD can make someone text non stop and she is not forgetful and shows no signs of ADD since I have known people in the past who actually had it. Also once she bailed out of plans, she claimed she just forgot but feel like that was not true because she did not seem to care and also made no attempt to reschedule. And she was hanging with someone else and when she will hang out with that person no matter how much homework she has to do, yet if I make a suggestion to hang out which is not often, she could be bored out of her mind to the point that she complains about it and she will still say no. Kind of feel like she is blowing me off even though she says it's not the case. She also once invited her other friend along in our plans that had been bailed on but that friend did not want to hang out with both of us, just her so she stayed with that friend. She has done this before with others as well. And I am apparently not the only person who feels she does not care. Apparently her family feel the same way. Just confused and not sure what is going on or what to do. Am I overreacting or is she really acting flaky? Not sure.

She doesn't sound much like a friend to me...

I wouldn't label the person you describe as a friend.

"Friend" is an honorable title, not fit for just anyone I talk to, you have to earn that title, and a good starting point would be acting like a friend.

The person you describe sounds nothing like a friend, sounds like someone who uses people to fill space and time until she has actual plans with her actual friends....

You're not overreacting, if I were in your shoes I'd cut her loose.

I totally agree with you. And she hates it when others do it to her. She is a hypocrite.

Yeah, she's not really a friend, is she ?

I know how you feel about the texting. When someone does that to me, I feel like just getting up and leaving. It is about the RUDEST F**KING thing anyone can do.

Sorry to put it bluntly, but she doesn't give a rats *** about you. Forget her, and move on to more important things and people.

Lemme ask - what's so special about this chick ? If nothing, which it sounds like, dump her like a hot potato.

Oh I know, I have actually almost just got up and left when it comes to texting. I don't mind when her or anyone else sends a quick message or quickly responds to just a message or two every so often. I do it too, no biggie. But having a full texting conversation with someone while you are actually hanging out with someone else who is trying to talk is downright rude in my opinion. And she is only a friend, nothing more.

Really, I think it IS a "biggie" to respond to a text message while you're spending time with someone else.
I would wager a large amount of money that none of the questions or answers are important enough to need an immediate answer.
Sorry, but this bugs me to no end. My phone is off when I'm with someone.

Agreed. Noone needs to be on their phone every second of every day. If she can't even look up she's probably texting multiple people or on facbook or something.
I knew someone like that, except this person would also find out who was in the area and just nonchalantly invite them to hang out there and then. Bit rude, made us feel insignificant.
I also had a friend that was very flaky and put everything off due to work or being sick, yet always had time for other people.

Well if you're tired of her nonsense, then she will just be nothing
