Seriously? You're going to unfriend someone simply because she didn't "like" your birthday wish, when you're not the center of attention to begin with? FFS, I don't even wish most people on my FB happy birthday and they are all family and close friends. Who the F cares, if it means THAT much to you...why don't you tell her in person instead of being melodramatic about it?
Thanks for this!

Yes. Unfriend her. She doesn't need that kind of superficial, pathetic, whiny drama coming from ANYBODY period.

I won't even use the sugarcoating from her birthday cake to tell it how it is. You are in the wrong. Not her. If your character is too flimsy to wish her a happy birthday in person, at least try to be polite and simply ask her if she had a good birthday. Don't even bring up your woes that you weren't acknowledged. Just be a decent human being and be professional and friendly about it. Unless you're super close to your coworker...don't bother worrying about it.

I couldn't agree more although in their defense, buying fan page likes does have a practical use if you own a new business and need to promote it

And here I thought that I was heartless. Maybe cut OP some slack? Many people aren't as strong and emotionally mature as you.

Then there is the question......would you have even wished her a happy BD if you hadn't received the notice telling you that it was her BD in the first place?

When our whole life is based on being liked in social media....there is something seriously SAD about this.

You're right. I'm sorry OP and everyone in this thread. We all come from different backgrounds, but I just don't like to sugarcoat or baby anyone and I just don't know how to say things any...nicer?

I guess if I can attempt nice I'd say....

Don't take it personally that she didn't respond. If you're not close, why worry?

Sometimes we can say what we want but in a more diplomatic way without getting "politically correct" either.....or sometimes ask questions to get people to think outside their box.

There are times when we need to shoot straight....there are other times when diplomacy works a lot better & even gets our point across more effectively......it's good when it becomes their idea...not ours forced on them....you know like when that light bulb comes on in our brain....then we own the light.
