I'm 44. I listen to a lot of stuff. Poe is beautiful. "Pretty" is such a sexy song from her. I meditate to a lot of that album, especially "control" because it is about being in control after being controlled. I've thought if I lead a full yoga practice, this should be in the playlist for the heat section with pigeon at the end.

Yep, I just turned 40...I noticed a few songs from my high school days mentioned. I didn’t listen to a lot of Poe, but I’m familiar. I’ll have to look this song and album up. Honestly, sometimes I like to just chill in some candlelight with some Mazzy Star, Tori Amos, or other such music (not usually when I’m depressed tho). My childhood was rough and I was a pretty stressed out teen but still, reminds me of when I was far more carefree, and hung out with a pretty solid and eclectic squad of misfit intelligent creatives.

I was a metal/idm/hip-hop kid in high school and generally roamed in large crowds of one. I had one friend that liked Skinny Puppy and he was in it for the bass on his car stereo and that's about it. SP just spoke to me deeply and it's really poetry set to the violent sounds of daily life.
I really branched out in music tastes during the big music thievery of the 00's when newsgroups and then p2p on the net were the thing to do. I've since bought most of what I liked, but some of it isn't available anywhere.
Tori is deep stuff
