My brother was wayward while growing up and he caused hell for the whole family. When my brother was pre-teen, the doctor resommended putting him on Ritalin or something to take out the hyperactivity. When my brother was 17 he ran away and lived with loser friends and ended up in trouble with the law, went to jail for a few years. Even now years later he continues with his anti-social behavior and needs some kind of professional help. He is a sociopath and will never take responsibility for what he has done. He works just enough to drink and blow it at a bar and somehow finds women to support him. From my experience I recommend intensive therapy and maybe some meds. My brother is now 34 and we are still waiting for him to become a productive member of society. But my parents also practiced tough love otherwise we would have been the ones he always came back to to steal from and clean up his messes. If you and your husband could find a local support group and hear from others that would help. Be strong.
