Hey all,
So I've been in a relationship for 14 years, it actually makes me feel sick typing that as I don't feel like I have been. I also have a good set of friends...ish. So I have lots of trauma from childhood and attend therapy. I just wanted to ask here, does anyone else experience this.... I don't feel that I've been with my partner for a long amount of time. I mean, I can't/don't feel any history there at all. He sends me pictures every day of our travels and other memories and I can't feel it. I feel a little like I'm in 50 First Dates, like I forget every day that we have any history. I can't feel it at all. Im looking at him.now and he's in the same room as me but I don't know him at all! I can feel this with friends too but most with my partner. It's really stressful and I can't make any plans for the future as I don't feel connected to him.. |

Hello and welcome to MSF!
![]() I have learned a bit about attachment theory, due to my own issues. But I had not come across the phenomenon of what you described. It does sound like in 50 First Dates, how she had memory issues. Can your therapist pinpoint what is causing it?
