My husband isn't usually home until very late on Fridays after visiting the local pub. This afternoon I decided to take the kids out to eat, summer has been so boring. He & I had just spoke 1 hour earlier, and things were very busy at work. We're outside waiting for the cab, and I see him pull up at his friends crane yard. Its the guys version of happy hour, only everyone supplies there own alchohol.

Anyhoo, I saw him pull up when the cab was coming. I decided to call him quickly since he was very early, and I hadn't mentioned that I was taking the kids out. Thought he might worry if he came home and we weren't here...NOT. I had my cell on speaker, he answered, and said "What the f *** do you want, I just f****** pulled up". I started to say the kids and I were going out, but was angrily disconnected by him. Unfortunately the kids were on my end, and heard the short disturbing dialogue.

Came back from the restaurant, and he was home. My son went in with him for a bit and then my son called me in the bedroom. Paul is only 9, but has a sweet heart, and his intentions were only good. He says "Mom, Dad wants to apologize for being mean to you on the phone, and hanging up". Dad is there looking at him and says "He** no, I ain't got nothing to apologize for" I guess Paul was trying to apologize for Steve which was so dear. There was even a pause where Steve could have went with the apology flow, but he decided not to...

I'm royally mad Blew his chance, again!!! Blew his chance, again!!! Blew his chance, again!!!

And rightfully so...

What asses we can be sometimes...

Your young Paul was so terribly sweet and brave to try to accomodate such a display from his Father..It hurts to hear you describe his deep desire for Peace..I'm sure his disappointment equaled his hope...

Your husband in the years ahead will remember those moments when his little boy stood up with courage to make amends for his selfish behavior..

Hopefully it will be as he makes his amends..

I'm sorry and I hope Peace enters your hearts..

Thanks ((Lenny)) for your empathy. I was/am in no way implying that men can be a**es, heck all of us can that! It just hurts my soul so to see my "baby" fending for his Mama

That is so adorable and terribly sweet and how courageous of him. I wish I could just hug'm.

My son sticks up for his step-father all the time, even though he can be so mean to him.

Men can be such jerks.

Give that kid lots of hugs!

How sad that dad is setting such a bad example for the kids.

I'm sorry MyBestKids if I made you feel defensive. Sometimes my communication skills are less than effective. My use of the pronoun "We" was intended to include all of us as a species..I should have been more specifically general...LOL
