I feel like my whole life I've been missing the "signs" G-d leaves me to guide me in the right direction, and that's why I still feel very lost. I believe everything happens for a reason and at the time it's supposed to, but I find myself in situations wondering what the reason is. I feel like I keep reliving the same situations over and over, and think it has to be because I'm not learning my lesson. I pray all the time for clearer signs, for a sign to tell me what to do so I don't make the same mistakes again. I know people who pray and they know right away what to do. I'm always confused. Like right now I'm wondering why G-d let a certain person into my life to become my friend only for that friend to now be pulling away. I know the saying that friends can be for a lifetime, a season or a reason. I get that, but what if you never figure out the reason they were put there? Is G-d just going to bring someone else into your life just to break your heart and leave so you can try and learn it again? Maybe I'm just dense, but I'm tired of reliving the same situations and still not knowing what I'm supposed to get from it.

A lesson you need to learn is that you will not have peace unless you trust the Higher Power (G-d)
You need to know that even though you do not understand why things happen now, God understands and everything that we all go through is for a reason. The reason is so we learn and become like God. Becoming perfect is a process. Becoming wise is a process. ![]() |

One question I've learned not to ask The Almighty is, "Why?"
It's a non-sequitur. Rather than ask why, better to ask how can I use this the best for my life right now? Trust is important with such a relationship, imo, and it often takes just putting one foot in front of the other knowing I'm not alone through the day no matter how confusing or tough it may be.

One way to learn is to be very observant and open your mind to the possibilities of what the reasons might be. Not all of the possibilities will be the correct one, so you need to sort through those which don't seem to apply and isolate a few reasons that have the greatest likelihood of being the reason. Sometimes it takes a few rounds of trial and effort before you can pinpoint it to an exact reason. Being open to the idea that there is a reason is the first step.

One of the grandest mysteries of G-d is his foreknowledge. Truth is knowledge of things they are, as they were and yet to come. G-d, possessing all truth, has the ability to know all things in advance. This being the case, we can trust him to give us only that which will be good for us in completing our life's mission successfully.
G-d never uses his love to hurt us. To do so would countermand his own law of judgement "do unto others as you would have them do unto you." So he will never let us down, never forsake us. His love is extended to all and he knows exactly how to reach each person. |

I used to wonder the same thing. What was G-d trying to teach me when this or that happened. I prayed and prayed for understanding but never seemed to get any answers. Now, I don't question and just try to accept whatever happens and believe that G-d knows what He's doing and I just have to get on with it. I nearly drove myself crazy trying to figure out reasons for everything and even questioned if there was a Higher Power at all.

One question I've learned not to ask The Almighty is, "Why?"
Now, I don't question I'm sorry you guys, I don't mean to be rude. Really? You don't question anything? How do you interact with your spirituality? It seems so one sided, just being told things, and, never questioning what it means? It makes me feel sad for you too, because, spirituality is so exciting, vibrant, and alive. It sounds like yours is dead. |

It's only by questioning that we protect ourselves from being told a million crazy lies.

I guess when I say I want to know the reason so I can learn the lesson is because I believe G-d will present the same situations to us over and over again until we learn to do them the way He wants. Once we pass that test, we move onto the next. I believe our lives are one test from G-d after another.
So with that said, I know I'm reliving the same situations over and over again because I'm obviously not learning the lesson G-d wants me to learn from it. So if you never know the lesson, how can you move forward? |

Maybe it's possible for some not to question, they have reached a place of understanding in thier life where they feel they know enough. I'm not one of those people. No matter how much I know, I discover, there's still more to know.
It sounds like it's in your nature to question. I think that's true for most people and there simply is no way to get an answer without asking the question, unless, as you mentioned in your original post, you are adept at reading signs. Some people are. What kind of signs are you looking for? Obviously, the plane pulling a banner flying overhead with the exact answer you're seeking isn't the most likely thing to occur. For me, finding signs, happens sometimes when I am walking out in the woods, or, it can happen in a crowded urban area. Have the question present in your mind as you search for the sign. Have a feeling and connection with the highest form of spirit you can feel or imagine. Open yourself to the idea that the sign may not come in the form of exact words, but, sometimes, it does. Feel love and hope and life and trust in your heart while you are searching. You will know it is the right sign when you are filled with a spirit of oneness and connection with yourself, the universe, and everything around you. You will feel a peace and you will be filled with energy and love. You will know then, that this was the sign you've been looking for. |

We have heard that God works through people and it is true. It is through our interactions with people that our shortcomings are brought to light. Conversely it is through our interactions with people that our assets and gifts are brought to light.. We are all teaching each other lessons as orchestrated by Love, The Higher Power, G-d or whatever we want to call it. It is wise not to assume that we know the lessons others are learning. We all learn different lessons in our own time when we are ready. The system that is in place for our evolvement is perfect. We are all progressing and it won't be long before everybodies life is one big happy... Smiley Party! ![]() |

Er, um, I mean no disrespect, but I had to question this. I've heard it said that with God, all things are possible. If this is true, why is it not possible to ask God a question? ![]() |

As I see it:
If one sees no problems there is no need to question and seek solutions. To tie the subject of questioning and seeking answers with the Original Topic:. Quote:
It turns out what's wrong is that our ignorant and selfish nature; (our will to receive) is not aligned with Nature, God, The Creator (the will to bestow) We need to question our motivations and desires so we may consciously choose to align them with those of God (Love) Seek and You Will Find Last edited by Anonymous100241; Jun 12, 2015 at 03:00 PM. |

![]() My questions to God are valuable. I find asking the question, "Why" is a non sequitur. I ask what am I to learn from this? What do you want for me/from me now Lord? How can I be better from this? I'm the first one to tell God, "I don't understand...BUT..." and trust in His sovereignty.

That's a huge leap to go from my not questioning God with the "WHY?" to my not questioning anything!
Yes, you're right, that is a huge leap. The reason I took the leap is because the comment below yours, "Now, I don't question" seemed to feed into your comment "One question I've learned not to ask The Almighty is, "Why?" ". You gave an explanation of why you don't question. It was the following poster who stated they do not question at all. That, to me, set off an alarm of the precarious position people put themselves in when blindly accepting anything said to them as complete truth, and I said as much in my following reply. You must be as much aware as I am that when we state beliefs that are personal to ourselves, not every reader has the ability to discern the context. Blankly stating that we don't question anything seems haphazard in my opinion. My spirituality is dead? From what source is telling you to judge me spiritually when you're still questioning with Why? I'm glad you called me out on this. I think it is very important to speak clearly, so that others can understand clearly. Using the term 'dead' was not the best choice of words on my part. The truth is, I did not say your spirituality is dead. I said your spirituality sounds dead. This is not a judgment, but, it is a personal observation. The authority I cite to be able to say what I observe is my own authority. To not question, communicate, on certain levels with "God" or, whatever you want to call it, to me, in all honesty, seems like half a relationship.' Dead' may not have been the correct word. Does saying that, to me, it would seem to make the spiritual relationship compromised if I couldn't/didn't communicate freely at the highest level, sound better to you? If you check, you'll see the only place I asked 'why?' was in asking why you stated you didn't ask 'why'. Don't waste your emotions upon me, I'm fine, thank you I never consider my emotions a waste. We could debate whether the question "Why?" is a non sequitur. I'm not certain where that would get us. I just, personally feel, that a completely open, freedom of speech relationship with God is the best one. It's my belief, my experience, that opening my mind to the level of asking "God" for answers, opens a higher channel in my being to receive answers, and, in my own experience, those answers have come. I stated that I intended no harm in questioning you. You answered the question of how you interact with your spirituality in another post. You obviously are a very spiritual person and your spirituality is very alive. I apologize if you've been offended. Personally, I don't take offense when questioned, I know my own motives well enough. ![]() |

Please don't turn my post into a debate. If you want to debate each other, please either private message each other or start a new thread. Thanks!
My original question just came from some people telling me I didn't need to know the reason for why things happen, but I disagree. If you never know the reason, you can never learn the lesson. |

It has not been my intent to debate, argue, or attack in any form. I don't want your thread to become a debate either and it wasn't my intent to hijack it. Sometimes, in discussions, other topics rise. To me, the purpose of a forum is to discuss ideas and that is my only intention on your thread. I completely agree that it is impossible to learn without knowing reasons. I'm aware this discussion has taken a path that borders on the debate rule and I apologize for any harm it has caused.
From my own experience, it is never wrong to question. My thoughts have been in defense of your right and privilege to do so. My sincere wish is that by having this discussion, some clarity is coming through for you. |

Hi Alchemy, You say that because I no longer question, that my spirituality is dead. This is absolutely not the case. If you read what I said, I said that I had prayed for many, many years to know why this and that happened in my life. Because I had prayed and asked for such a long time, I felt, for me, that it was better to try and accept things and get on with it. I now know that God knows exactly what He's doing. He knows what's best for me and my life is exactly as it's meant to be. However, it does not mean that there is no dialogue, there absolutely is, constantly. Just because I don't question doesn't mean that I don't wonder and ponder often. If I believe that God is all knowing, all loving, then who am I to question? I understand when people question, of course I do...I spent most of my life questioning but it never changed anything, or at least the things I wanted to change. I really believe that God loves me so much that He won't take His eyes off me and in that knowledge, I can laugh, cry, argue etc and look at the reasons. No questions asked. No need.

So your advice is to just accept and not question? It sounded to me like the OP would like to have more control of her life than that. It didn't, and still doesn't, seem to me, that, not questioning is, the best way to get answers.

A few answers people have found:
1) There is a difference between sharing & giving unsolicited advice. The latter is offensive. 2) There is a difference between being open for a debate & being critical and argumentative. The latter is offensive. 3) Nobody is obligated to give another the time of day, let alone explain and justify themselves. |
