Hi all,

12 years ago, I was asking for attention the wrong way and the result has haunted me occasionally all these years.

I'm having a hard time believing God has forigven me for this-I don't believe I've forgiven myself-maybe that's it?--I'm tempted to call the pastoral pager-don't want to abuse this privilege-the priests (Episcopalian) are wonderful and I LOVE MY CHURCH AND I AM SUPREMELY IN LOVE WITH MY ABBA (GOD)!

This comes up every so often-I KNOW I'm forgiven by God-intellect-but the BELIEF(heart) part is where I'm struggling.

PLEASE KNOW:

God can and will forgive any and all things........
all YOU have to do is to truly mean it from your heart and He will hear you then forgive - it is us "the humans" that often cannot forget, therefore, we fail to forgive.

If you've asked for forgiveness, then you are forgiven.

It's really hard to imagine that with the big stuff, isn't it?

However, it being hard to imagine doesn't make it not so.

I think you're right...you need to forgive yourself. Guilt can interrupt so much our work in life.

What do you think it would "take" for you to forgive yourself?

You are forgiven; you were sorry, you repented, and asked God for forgiveness sincerely. Then please know that his Word, the Bible says, "As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us." Psalm 103:12

God's Word says it, you can believe it and know he has forgotten your sin.

I have done some very awful things while manic and I struggle with the same question. But I have to keep telling myself that Christ died for me one time for all of my sin, and therefore I am ultimately forgiven already. The self-forgiveness becomes a long process, because I am human and it is very hard for humans to forgive. You can look at it "academically" and know that you are forgiven, and then work on the self-forgiveness a day at a time. Take care and pm me if you want to talk! HUGS!
