Alton, in response to your statement "theres something to just staying focused on that ("Love one another") and not being distracted by well, more esoteric things which seem to be more about legalism anyway," what do you believe about the following? Aren't these five things equally as important? I'm sure you'll agree that they are. I would add your verse anywhere in the list.

Five Christian Absolutes

1. Jesus is the Christ, only begotten Son of the living of God
2. Salvation only through His blood
3. Was crucified and died for the remision of our sins
4. Rose from the dead on the third day
5. Will return for His Church to live with Him forever

*The rest is up to individual interpretation.

Nicely said Alton... call me naive too I guess because trusting God and walking in the truth of his love for all of creation is what sustains me by grace to walk in peace. It occupies my thinking and determines my actions. The love of Creator God.

Blessings.......

I hear that too, 50. When my spouse decided he wanted someone else and pushed for divorce, he had me divorce him so he could stay in the ministry. Then, ALL of our "friends" (fellow ministers and wives, church leaders etc) abandoned ME because "I divorced him." itching ears... Not ONE PERSON called or contacted or would even speak to me in all of South Florida afterwards. (2 Tim 3:5 phil?)

Christians it seems are the only army that shoot their wounded in the back. itching ears... I think we could talk 50, being burned or burned out needs to be, imo.

? All Scripture is good, but why bring slaves into this conversation, coralproper? itching ears... Let's not take the thread off course. itching ears...

Thank you "phil" for your consistent encouragement. In fact, what you just said was one of the things Septembermorn and I chatted about last night, I think. Well, at some recent point, we did itching ears... Not being sidetracked. I think I posted somewhere about this also. 1 Cor 1:23-28

Eph 3:8-10, Mark 12:17, 2 Tim 4:4,5, 1 Jn chapters 4 and 5. Amen! Hope that isn't "too much" to read at once. itching ears...

This is good for me. itching ears...

Ya I know...but this go's for all men it seems I have learned, slaves or not , it is in similar context to some of the quotes about "controversial questions" and what they lead to IMO

Almost says the exact same thing to me as in Titus 3:9 about foolish controversies and what they lead to.

Whats it matter who it is told to if it has the same meaning?? itching ears...

Timothy 6:4 controversial questions

Titus 3:9 foolish controversies

Sky, after further reflection on your above question

1 Timothy 6:1-2 is directed toward how slaves are to act toward their masters...IMO

6:3-21 is for all servants of God in my opinion

how bought 6:20-21 Sky.....I like that also

I always liked 6:10 also..but "the love of money" is off topic I guess......but reflects that it is probably directed at servants of God and not a masters slaves, who have no money..IMO

I've read all the Scriptures listed. The ones that spoke to me the loudest were 1 Cor 1:23-28 and 2 Tim 4:4,5. Guess you have your reasons for not posting the passages?

VERY good reading! itching ears...
