When I'm out in the middle of nowhere, in dark skies and look at the stars, I feel an overwhelming sense of awe and wonder.
Stargazing brings out the spiritual me.

Being with nature really makes me feel spiritual. When I was in the northern area of my old province, I very much loved to go out in the middle of the night, when it's really cold, and just watch the snow fall from the night sky. It's quiet, peaceful, and amazing.
I actually love to go out in snowstorms, while most people dislike them, I find they make me very spiritual- it gives me an inner peace that I need to bond and connect with my spirituality. I also have items and tokens given to me as gifts that help me feel very spiritual. |

Music helps me to feel, whether it is spiritual, or just to be able to feel any emotions at all. Music often is prayer to me. Nature can be spiritual too. So can the skies (the heavens).

A sense of connection; with another person, or nature, or even an author through a book reminds me of the spiritual.

A nature walk in early fall usually makes me feel pretty spiritual.

Nature for sure!
Flying through white puffy clouds to reach a crystal clear sky. Being enveloped in darkness while the sky fills with stars. Watching and listening to a peaceful snowfall, believe me you can "hear" the peacefulness. Children... Older couples holding hands. Wow, there are so many times when that sense of spirituality hits me, and probably more times when it should and I've missed the opportunity. Peace everyone... |

Nature is something that leads me to feel spiritual at times. And... I never thought I'd say this but... Math. And logic, too. A beautifully constructed and compelling argument. Some that I find the most inspiring are attempts to prove the existence of God. Not because I think they are sound at the end of the day, but because I find their form quite beautiful.
David Lewis is someone who I find quite inspiring. Here is a reconstruction: P1) It is possible that I never came to PsychCentral (thought to be obviously true) P2) There is a possible world in which I never came to PsychCentral (thought to be a restatement of the obvious truth in P1) P3) There is a possible world (logically entailed by P2) Conclusion: Possible worlds exist! (Logically entailed by P3). Possible worlds exist! I find that an inspiring thought. Whether or not the argument is sound I find it beautiful in its simplicity and in the power and weight and significance that I find in the conclusion. At the moment... I'm feeling spiritual about Dennett's account of the 'library of mendel' and his account of biological possibility with respect to their being a library of all the biologically possible genotypes where that library would consist in more books than there are particles of matter (according to Hawking's estimate). Helps me feel a sense of wonder and awe. |

The beach, listening to my favorite spiritual songs and most important.... meditation. All makes me feel spiritual.

Nature is a big one for me too. One day I was walking down my street at night during a snowstorm and the way the streetlights made the falling snow glisen was mesmerizing.
I agree that math can also be spiritual. The number pi is awe inspiring for me. It's a trancendental number that has no end and never repeats. Fractals too. They are infinitely complex.

Oh how I wish math filled me with spirituality. For me, math just fills me with dread
![]() But I can appreciate the spirituality in the complexity of the subject.....and I used to really pray whenever I had a math test. Does that count? |

I love gazing at the stars too. It really does make you appreciate the vast universe that lies in front of us...
Looking out into the ocean or the view from a mountaintop does that for me too. Endless beauty.

What a great thread!
I love the moon. The moon makes me calm for some reason. Sometimes i wish i wasn't so human and felt the cold so much so i could sit outside for longer! ![]() ps - i like the stars too, i found this quote on a beer mat ages ago randomly and kept it (i'm lame like that!) "I love this place at night. The stars....there's no right or wrong in them. They're just there." It sums it all up nicely to me! ![]() |

There's just something about that near silence that brings me to a higher place, one where I feel moved, connected, loved, calm, mindful, and loving. It's beautiful. And the sound of a child laughing....mmmm, it's so precious. gg

connecting with nature.
From the time I was 10 I would walk out to the woods behind my parents house to a bend in the stream and sit there listening to the sounds of the woods. I also enjoyed walking down to the cemetery and walk around soaking in the serenity. snowy

Being in nature...among the trees and staring into a low-roaring fire's flames. I go very deep into myself and kind of melt with my surroundings.
However, being in the mountains, near a babbling stream, watching the light dance on the water, brings me closer to nature and my spiritual essence...where I can BE...unencumbered. KD

Being outside in nature. Being in a quiet church. Listening to music.
Just "being" without worrying about other things, at least for that minute.

The fastest track to Joy and spirituality I have yet found is giving without expectation.
When I can get out from between "my" ears it is the beginning of seeing everything else. It is not easy but as my days march on it gets a little easier. Lenny
