very interesting...well, do you believe in spiritual warfare? could you conceive that what you're experiencing is a tactic of your enemy? He'll continue to attack you until you remind him that he was defeated, and that you were included in that victory. he will depart, so you MUST fill that space after he leaves, don't leave a vacancy for him to return to. this is how we "beat the devil"...by claiming our victory!

a plea to anyone out there?

can anybody explain" thier" or "our" God to me please, or do I have to belive in the Supernatural or "other reality" stuff of a being ,outsice/inside that has a personal and caring interest in me,and has the power to intervene in our causalities of self, our sufferings or whatever?

is consciencenous an energy of "love", that could make sense to me.
but nothing else around "God"- matters " ", does !

lovingly, me

-please take yout time, you deserve it
alevin

hope u get better jumpingrasshopper

I wonder if you say the same prayers over and over, reciting them rote, or if you pray "your own words" that are different and dependent upon what is on your mind? If they are prayers you've learned, then that might be triggering your OCD, as it is another type of ritual? Just a thought.

Maybe you could start with just saying prayers of Thanks and Praise for the good things you have in your life. You know, start small and then move up, kind of like we do with othr things. Baby steps....if you want to put it that way. Just something to get you back into the habit and feeling more comfortable with praying.

Besides, God is deserving of any and all praise! And in giving Him praise, you too will be blessed. A win-win situation!

Feel free to pm me if there is anything you would like to discuss further! I would love to hear from you!

I'm glad you asked friend, with the bread and butter of life! reading the bible and prayer, prayer does'nt have to be a formal thing, asking God questions, telling him your fears and concerns, any thing that's important to you is important to him! Telling God "thank you" for his love... reading the word is also a great way for the Lord to speak to you and come deeper into your heart...feed your faith, starve your doubts! I'd be glad to talk to you by personal message if you like, my name is Jeff

Do you have a history of abuse associated with religious beliefs? I know for me, just the mention of the word "God" puts a lot of anxiety in me...but I keep coming in here to try to combat that anxiety (you can only conquer fears and phobias by facing them).

Thinking of you.

grasshopper, I'm glad you can see some of the reasons why you are having difficulty now with this area of your life. Yes, there are always the fake worshippers in church... but I'd rather they still go to church and work on themselves, they surely won't get it straight by not going to church, imo. something on my mind We go to church for ourselves, and God, each of us. something on my mind

How is the church situation there today? I know there are many ministries that kept right on going through all the destruction. They are there to help you in many ways. You know, visiting churches has no demands upon you, and you can freely visit and leave. Maybe you are seeking something the world cannot give, and from a child you realized it's in the church somehow (but the people turned you off?)

Good wishes. something on my mind

I love the advice altonwoods gave you. Very sound advice and invaluable for helping you build up your strength and faith. I like what he said about prayer. Prayer doesn't have to be "head bowed and eyes closed". You can talk to God anytime! And talk to him just as you would anyone else. You can do it in silence or speak aloud, formal or informal. There are many different ways to pray.

anytime, anywhere, anyway....you choose. All will be pleasing to Him and beneficial to you.

Always open to discussion if you would like to pm!

((((((((jumpinggrasshopper))))))) I so hope you find the answers you are seeking on this matter.

I also wanted to suggest that you may find one of those "One Minute Prayer" books or something of the like a bit helpful to you. I know they give me inspiration sometimes when my mind can't focus due to anxiety or depression.

Just a thought........
