Maybe it needs more time for weight loss results to occur, but I have no idea since I don't take that particular medication.

Topamax is an anti seizure medication, but is used for weight loss, pain management, migraines, bipolar disorder for mania and of course epilepsy. I work at a pain management office where a lot of people are on Topamax to help with their conditions such as herniated discs.

Does it really help for pain?

Yes. People that can't be prescribed narcotics due to drug abuse usually get put on Topamax at the clinic I work at.

Thanks. I wonder why no one suggested it for me.

Is the pain related to the musculoskeletal system such as something with the spine, a bone, muscles, tendons, etc?

There are a lot of patients that come to the clinic I work at that have that condition, the type of physician they see/I work for is called a physiatrist. I believe you need a referral to see one so I would ask your general practitioner about it.

Just to mention, I didn't abuse my meds. A nurse decided to take me off everything and forced me off against my will. She didn't like that I was being prescribed both benzos and opiates. I'm the one suffering, not her.

Thank you, medicalfox. When I get one I will. I'm furious with that clinic where the nurse forced me off the meds I was on. I haven't found or gone to a new place yet

I'm not exactly sure of the complications of your situation, but usually if you're legally prescribed both and they both show up positive in a urine sample you shouldn't have had a problem. I would ask a physician on what course of action you should take.

She wrote "drug seeking behavior" on my chart. No hope of getting back on them probably. When she was forcing me off, I tried to see other doctors but they wouldn't countermand her decision. I think it's a particularly bad state to write those prescriptions in. I had terrible luck. I'm literally just waiting to die now because I can't stand or walk for more than 3 minutes at a time.

You should speak to a physician about this situation. You might not be able to be prescribed narcotics, but there are other meds for pain management.

Thanks, medicalfox. I'm hoping to go to someone in March. Hopefully there will be something that will help.

Doing well, today will be my 3rd day of taking college classes. I started out so nervous about how I would do, now I'm much more comfortable.

I'm proud to be a student of the school I'm in, and I will make sure I study everyday and work as hard as I can.

Group tomorrow, looking forward to getting out of the house, plus I have stuff to talk about (good stuff)

Having some trouble sleeping lately, but it's probably stress related. I stress out about nothing, so when there is something that could actually cause stress, like 2 tests on Monday, you can only imagine how I blow things out of proportion lol
