Getting stalked by paramedics now as well, think they would have better things to do.
I feel a bit less anxious sometimes though, must be the medication or I'm just to tired.

@kureha- hooray for hearing from you!!!!! I missed you! I agree parametics ought to have better things to do. I hope your stress continues to lessen.
@willow- good suggestion. Maybe I can find some wildflowers to arrange. Also I will walk dogs later, which helps. Does dog walking help you too? I bring cookies in my pocket and have them practice their commands at crosswalks when we have to wait at lights. |

Oh, I am so sorry about Greedy Guts. Having the dog bark incessantly would really get to me too. Something about my filtering system and having dogs bark makes me nuts. I am an animal lover, but there's something about that noise that gets to me. I am not surprised by your son's brother's reaction. It just makes me sad that generally people have a false idea that we are obviously blithering out of control idiots. |

I was hoping she'd turn up this morning, but she didn't. I don't see a place where something caught her. Usually there's a splat of feathers at the spot.

They have no intention of doing anything about that dog. They're going to leave it tied to that tree round the clock. So, now I'm going to have to buy recording equipment, figure out how to place it outside so that I can gather evidence to take to court to get an injunction or something to make them take the problem seriously. Just thinking about it raises my blood pressure.

I started a new med a few days ago. Latuda. It makes me feel dead and emotionless. The good news is my hallucinations might be getting less already but not completely gone. They are still there and I have good days and bad days. I still believe what I believe and wander. But its too early to see what the effects of the medicine will be. I am always tired. Slept 15 hours last night and had a nap before that. I am never going to feel awake again but at least I am off the Haldol. Been changing meds a lot lately.

Costello: I know the neighbor issue has been going on awhile. I don't know the full history cause I've only been here since Feb. Have you ever had the sheriff ask them to do something about it? Maybe you have since you are now taking the steps for a court order.
What a drag that people are so inconsiderate about disturbing the peace. Your neighbor obviously knows his dog is a nuisance. I feel sorry for the dog too, being tied to a tree. I have to admit though that when I lived in town w/ my two dogs, I didn't know they would bark and disturb my neighbors next to me in the condominium complex. It got to the point the neighbors would be mad at me and I only found out afterwards why. I felt bad about it. I left my dogs inside and just thought they were being quiet when I was gone. Apparently my dogs were awful when I left them alone. ![]() |

Anyway, it did get their attention enough that they don't leave the dog out at night now. And for a while they were keeping the dog in a lot more, but recently they started leaving it tied to a tree all day. Quote:
And then there's the fact that I'm standing in my yard screaming 'shut up' at the top of my lungs. They do hear that, because if they're home they come outside. And then there's that conversation I had with the husband a couple of months ago in which he said, "I'm not a bad guy. I want to get along with my neighbors." And I responded, "I hate the barking." So, they know. ![]()

@the little digee- did something happen? I am sorry you feel this way. You want to make a mental giant toadstool to curl up under for awhile?
@costello- have you met the dog? Talked to him by name? Bribed him with treats? Maybe if you got to know each other he wouldn't bark at you as much?(trying to think of anything within your own power that could help) |

Your comment about the giant toadstool made me smile. Actually that sounds like a good idea. Amanita muscaria does provide some good shade at maturity since its cap is fully opened.

The dog is tied to a tree all the way on the other side of the neighbor's yard. I'm not going to walk across their yard to talk to their dog. For one thing they have a security system, and I don't want to be accused of trespassing. For another, it would be embarrassing if they walked out and caught me in their yard.

I came home intending to record the stupid thing barking, and my son called just as I was driving up to my house.
![]() I did make a recording, but my half of the phone conversation is on it, so it's pretty much useless. The neighbor's teenaged son saw me recording, and I thought that would make him do something about the dog, but he didn't. Then I tried to record the dog barking as I fed the chickens, but how do you do that? Feeding the chickens takes two hands. I can't videotape at the same time. I did buy a little audio recorder, but it's crap. It cost $35 too. ![]() Then I have this conversation with my son where he's explaining to me that the neighbors aren't doing it on purpose and they probably don't think it's that big a deal. Well, of course! That's why I'm suing - so they'll get that it's a big deal. I've told them it's a big deal. I've called the sheriff. The sheriff explained there's a noise nuisance ordinance. And they're still leaving the dog out barking. Clearly they need to hear it from a judge.

If the dog is within 50 feet you might try the bark control birdhouse. It uses a high pitched noise to train them not to bark. I have no idea if it works or not.

@ Costello: Does the neighbor have a dog house for the dog that's tied to the tree? And is there a food and water bowl there? Here in Dallas, Texas you can't just leave a dog tied to a tree. It has to be able to get into a dog house or under something that can provide shelter for it. Also has to have a food and water bowl out within it's reach at all times. And there's also some rule about the dog being able to get proper exercise. Not sure what the rules are there but I'd check and see if that neighbor's following the rules with the dog. It might be a case of animal cruelty. Also I was thinking that if Greedy Guts wandered over within that dog's path the dog bite have killed her and the neighbor might of cleaned up the feather mess to eliminate the evidence. I'm hoping that isn't what happened but you never know. I'm so sorry that you're having to deal with that. Also there are some sort of electronic devices that you can buy that sends out some noise that hurts a dog's ears when they bark. If you have a plug in on your front porch maybe you could try that. I don't know how well they work but it's worth a try. Or maybe you could talk to the neighbor about putting a barking collar on the dog. They have ones that spray a certain scent that the dog doesn't like each time a bark happens. Again not sure how well that works either but maybe you can do some research on it. I don't know if you and the neighbor are friendly. If you're not then maybe you'd have to purchase the collar if the neighbor won't. Just a few ideas to think about.

@ Costello: sorry I posted that before I read your last posts. So if the sheriff have been out then sounds like the neighbors should be aware of just how big of a problem it is.

I even talked to the woman who runs my dog's doggie day care. She has an app on her smart phone with a variety of high pitched sounds. She has to pick different tones for different dogs. And some dogs just don't care.
