I started growing two plants, one is a safflower plant and the other one is spearmint, I'll take pictures once they sprout, I'm excited about it. I haven't grown anything since I was a little kid

I spent the afternoon with a clockmaker who taught me how to do introductory repairs one on one. We mainly focused on bushings and mainsprings. I learned how to file, broach, select the appropriate bushing size, insert it, resize the hole to fit the wheel pivot and make an oil sink. I was also introduced to the depthing tool which helps determine the center of the pivot holes. It is also used to determine if gears (a pinion and wheel) mesh or not. I also learned how to remove mainsprings from barrels and how to inspect and clean them. It was really fun.

Clock repair is fun, challenging and very relaxing.

I started from scratch with my dialogue for Aristotle. I'm dividing it into two parts. It would be too long of a dialogue for a single one. After this it's all smooth sailing and creativity. The groundwork will be set and the story will unravel with insight through the dialogues as philosophy becomes life.

Brainstorm with me please. How do you think a mortal would perceive reality as a God would. He get's enlightenment but at the same time it makes him crumble, because it's too much for him to handle. I'm thinking it has to be highly metaphorical like a journey into the under ground or something akin to that. This is the only writer's block I have in my story. hmm...

I think it would depend on if the mortal still retained his mortal-ness and was being given the ability to share the god's mind. If that were the case, I think he would see the dichotomy of all life, his mind would be overloaded with appreciation for the deepest kind of beauty and kindness, and having to bear the weight of unimaginable pains, and possibly would beg to be made ignorant again.

However, if he were given a sort of deified body/containment for existence, it would enable him to look on and begin to understand the intricacies and interrelatedness of all things, and be moved to either compassion for the world's ignorance, or a desire to exact justice on a world that has been ripped apart by hatred and selfishness. Or both.

Just thoughts.

Having plants can be quite rewarding... I used to have a Bonsai tree which was a lot of fun to watch grow & take care of. Now I've just got a Jade Plant but I still get some joy out of it even if it needs less care.

I don't know if you guys know what funko pop is but funko is a company that makes these figures called Pops, they're based off pop culture people and characters. I started collecting them recently, if you know the Ghost Busters movie you know Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, here's the "toasted" figure of him I'll have in the mail tomorrow, he's too cute!

Or both.

Just thoughts.
My thoughts are how it's a cloudy day with rain and thunder as he goes down (underworld) wearing a cloak to capture the rain. After Zeus gives him the sight of the gods his iris turns gold. One down the hill he begins to see all the shadows (of students) who blindly don't know the purpose of life, That there is one. Instead they gaze at the ubiquitous screen (phones and laptops). It's become an addiction Then I do a quote for Tocqueville about the new type of despotism they he foresaw a century earlier. The screens they watch capture their minds so all they see are static on the screens, which in turn turns them into shadows, because they don't see their inherited potentials given to them.

Also, since part of the underground work is centered on Homer's books, there is a since of what the greeks called xenia with is the host guest relationship and how the students are crossing then guest host relationship. due to their attention, reverence to the institute. I could bring in professors but I'm aiming for professors to use this book as a source to give their students to follow. Its merely 10 dialogues but all are prevalent. They all need to be polished though.

I don't really want him to beg. after becoming enlightened I want his soul to feel the weight and fate of these students and himself.

I thought about Rousseau ,"Man is born free but everywhere in chains." How the debt of college students inherit. But that might be touchy subject for professors to think about. Instead I went over how oxford and paris' universitas began what we call the university today, and how different it is this day. The goal was very different. I feel like I have an axe to grind with what happened to me at the university I went because of my psychosis happened there. So I wont touch on the subject for many reasons. So that is out of the question. After all, there are a few great professors out there.

I have a lot of ideas but I don't have one that says, "that's the one!" There is greek myths littered through here with Zeus and possibly Prometheus who have man fire (consciousness). From then on we were made of fire and clay. Something will stick. After Aristotle it's all easy. I already have 7 dialogues done. These two have I abut 35 pages of notes. Phew. Ill read them every night until Saturday and then start to write an outline and get the necessary quotes to use. Then give myths to bring it to flesh it out. Like Icarus, achille's rage, Penelope's character, comparison betwwen the great souled man vs Nietzsche's overman. (one of my dialouges is neitzsche. So I have plenty to work with. I just hope The average college freshman can understand it. What Sophia's world is to ladies, the Storm and Stress is for men.

I've played with the last one a bit where all the questions he thinks about come full circle and have to do with what kind of being am I, what kind of life is right for me, and what will my life amount to. To look at oneself, examine yourself, put stock into yourself.

Long and arduous, but it all will be tightly knitted, I hope. Nothing so far as gone astray as of yet.
Thanks for this!

@Odysseus, thank you for that. It was really insightful, and I love the imagery. The idea about people missing their potential, while being fixed on technology and convenience, is brilliant. It all seems very exciting. I hope you keep following your passion, I know it will lead you to many great places.

The lovely little thread of happiness :)

So I'm reading about color and light...I was playing with making part of a white butterfly blue due to its wing being in shadow as an alternative to boring grey....I also made the gomphrena flowers into simple spheres. It's pretty stylized but I like how it came out.

I really like the red one too. It was the most expensive one because of its colour, but I wanted at least one to have year-round colour. I have no idea if that one or any of the others will flower too, or what colour/appearance they will have. It's a surprise!
