Studies on metformin for AP-induced weight gain or just weight gain in general?

Fireworks aren't allowed here either. Nobody has started setting them off yet. But they will be soon...

We have to go to the big park on the 4th to see them, I used to go every yr, but it's so crowded. Makes me anxious...

Columbus has their red white and boom fireworks on the 3rd usually. However my community lets off fireworks at the race track by our house. We just have to be in the back yard to see them.

AP induced but you lose on average 7 pounds and it only works for 1 out of 5 people.....I think I had a link on the roll call that must not be named....

They normally use it for diabetics and it helps them too but also lowers blood sugar, prolongs life andd another bonus for APs it blocks the prolactin effects at least in women. The latest research also suggests that it works as well as calorie restriction for prolonging life...its pretty much a miracle pill except for some GI effects.

That's cool. Yeah we just have the one show. In neighboring counties they have their own shows. When I get a car I'll probably go to those. One is on a boat on the lake. I think that would be fun.

I've tried metformin twice. It never helped me at all. It did give me the GI effects, though.

Metformin gave me the GI effects.
Resistant starch gave me the GI effects.
Sugar alcohols give me the GI effects.

Erti, if you hear any giant farts, that's just me experiencing the GI effects.

Here we have them for each of the suburb city (like for grove city and Hilliard) but we're all in the same county.

It's a mystery to me why metformin would be so difficult to get. It's fairly innocuous, isn't it? As I said, two different doctors prescribed it to me. I was prediabetic, though, and had a significant amount of weight to lose before I started a low carb diet.

It's on label for diabetes and pre-diabetes but its an old drug so they haven't got AP induced weight gain on-label they probably don't want to do the trials since its generic and not all insurance is good about off label use....but psych docs in general do a lot of off-label stuff---sometimes they have to write a justification though...get a doc who won't fight for you and you don't get the med...

That's where I was at when I started. They also put me on pravastatin. They up that dosage though. The metformin had stay the same since I first started it.

Yeah I told her about it a while back but she forgot to ask her pdoc last time....but yeah I think it would help a lot because I'm sure the weight loss is proportional to the weight gain...the studies I looked at didn't have raw data though...

My son's pdoc lowered his dose again on Wednesday evening. So, he's now taking a quarter of a 2.5 mg pill of olanzapine. His dose is 0.625 mg.

He says the quality of his sleep has improved significantly since this dose change. The last three nights have been great.

However, he's taken to drinking again. It started with two beers once a week and progressed to quite a bit of bourbon almost nightly. He was calling me in the evening, obviously drunk and saying maudlin things.

Finally he had a night where he fell asleep (passed out?) at 8:30 in the evening and woke up at 1 am and couldn't get back to sleep. I told him alcohol was going to screw up his sleep, and maybe he should quit it for a week and see if it helps.

That was ... Wednesday! Same as the dose change.

He's giving the credit for his great sleep to less olanzapine. I'm giving it to no alcohol.

I can tell he really wants alcohol to be a part of his life. Just giving it up for a week seems hard. In fact after 2 days he thought the week was up.

I was confused. I thought the AP made you sleep. He said that it does, but it's a poor quality sleep. He's saying the quality these last three nights has been better than he's had in a long time.

Is olazapine zyprexa?

That's great that he's doing good with the dose decrease.
