Chickenfoot from the previous roll call...so the article you linked is about remote charging of medical devices which is cool.....these are also pretty low power devices but I'm also curious how you think it's generating sound....if it was like a radio everyone could hear what is in your head....so is it wired Into your brain in a way to stimulate your auditory processing area? If so we're talking something more than a chip...in fact no one understands the brain enough to generate specific speech like processes with electrical impulses...brain research is very far behind so I'm wondering how you think such an implant is generating sound that only you can hear? It would be really cool for deaf people...I mean there are cochlear implants but the sound in those is not quite like normal sound as I understand it.

So back to charging the implant....it requires a large metal plate about 5cm from the implant.....unless you're sleeping on a metal plate at night I don't think that you're going to be able to get charged up without knowing it.

Granted I've never had visual hallucinations (that I know of, how would you know?) but I think this research is selective and doled out among the population.

So there is really limited DARPA funding in the US compared to NIH/NIMH/VA funds for research so they actually tend to be behind compared to univerisites and even more-so than private companies. There was a golden age in the 30-70s but that has long passed

You can tell visual hallucinations if they are impossible given real world laws of physics etc---my street wasn't normal for 10 years and then for 5 minutes the center line went zig-zag and so did the cars. People didn't change from wearing kimonos to jeans and T-shirts within 1 second of me looking away. It's the rapid impossible changes that give them away...

1% of the population has schizophrenia---that's super common---more so than type 1 diabetes, more than alzheimers etc----super common----are you in some way immune from psychosis? Because I know I couldn't tell until someone told me...I'm not sure how you would know and I am always afraid that I won't know in the future....

I almost blocked my own dad because he always had some sort of justice pics where the criminals were beaten up---I don't want to see anyone suffering---its not like most criminals are somehow inherently evil many were forced into crime due to bad circumstances in life---I think facebook learned though because I would always skim past them now I don't get 90% of what my dad posts and I didn't even have to change the settings...

but is it just me or does any body else find people on facebook to be almost mentally unstable?

The people I know from facebook are the people I know IRL---I don't find them more unstable than I found them to be previously----we do disagree a lot on things like immigration/crimes/guns etc.

For example one of my uncles put up a panel that said something like---as soon as the government restricts your right to own a gun that's when you need one---while most of my people know about my mental issues not all do but I was quite tempted to state---well I guess I need a gun then---my rights are restricted for another 2 years because I received voluntary treatment inpatient....if I had terminal cancer I doubt they would restrict my gun rights---now involuntary I get and that is permanent but really getting the help I needed restricts my rights---thanks government---thanks---

Luckily I have no desire to have a gun unless there is an uprising against the government(which is unlikely)----and if the rules get tossed out the window I don't think buying gun will be an issue....

most people on my facebook i know IRL. i guess i didnt know them good enough because they seem almost mentally unstable. theres only like maybe 3 people idk on my facebook. but they are all either family or peeps from high school. mostly family. so maybe im seeing where i get my mental instability from. IDK IDK IDK. just saying. i could be wrong.

as far as guns go we got enough here. we dont need to buy one.

Well there's about 7,000,000,000 people in the world and 1% of that is 70,000,000. That's a hell of a lot of people. Plus schizophrenia doesn't discriminate. It happens to all races and cultures.

Only about 30---I am clearly an outlier, one of my cousins has more than 500....

people have around 300 contacts on average---that's way more than me but for typical people that means you actually know 3 people with sz....its actually the same percentage of the population that has red hair so if you've ever known someone with natural red hair then you probably also know someone else with sz---I think its semantics whether it's rare or not but in most cases rare diseases are things where there are say hundreds or less of individuals who have them, it's hard for them to get medicines etc. In contrast APs are one of the top selling meds---thus in my mind its common.

lol my mom and stepdad have more friends than I do. I have about 210 people on my facebook. Mostly people from high school that I don't talk to anymore/ever talked to.

A few of my friends really never got into it at all which I think is a shame because it's nice for pictures because people don't feel obligated to comment if they don't want to otherwise I don't know who wants to see my pictures---usually flowers scenery etc but some people seem to enjoy it a lot...
