I like reading about the different Gods and Goddesses and about their ancient festivals like Samhain

Wow. I'm sitting in my car charging my iPad, while my daughter is in her dance class. One of the flood lights that illuminates the Luvn Oven sign has gone blinky. Literally, blinky. I can't look at it without saying the word oven, over and over, in time with the flashing.

I feel really stable with the exception of the OCD picking problem, and it's not even as bad today. My new dose of Paxil should be here tomorrow afternoon. I always want to go off my meds when I'm feeling good, I asked my doctor and she said no, I'm doing good because the meds are working

I can usually tell when my neighbors are into drugs, based on the number of cars that come in and out of the parking lot and amount of people in and out of their house all day especially in the middle of the night, Thankfully I have nice neighbors finally after years of dealing with all kinds of druggies.

Ah, the nature of human nature. You have to understand human nature before one goes about constructing a political regime, or else it's doomed to fail.

There are three major problem areas in philosophy, and they should be answered in said order: First, there is the problem of knowledge, which consists of what is there, and how can I know; Secondly, there is the problem of conduct, which consists of what type of being am I and what type of life is right for me; Lastly, there is the problem of governance, should I govern or be governed.

Metaphysics belongs in the first category of the problem of knowledge. It deals with ontology (the study of being). Aristotle was the one who coined the term, or at least his translators did in latin. Do minds exist? Is poetry grounded in the viscera? Are we merely physical entities? Does beauty exist without a percipient? Questions that keep me up at night.
Thanks for this!

Good luck, I'm going to try to go to sleep early, even though I hate going to sleep because that means tomorrow is ever close. But my head is feeling like the crap.

With inductive logic(based on observation) there is always room to be wrong. You can never be 100% certain of anything external to your own mind. Also, you might be operating on a heuristic. A heuristic is a short cut way of thinking. For instance, that guy has a lot of cars come and go to his house, me must be selling drugs, because the last guy who lived there had cars come and go. In reality, there could be many explanations for why so many cars are coming to and fro. It could just be coincidence.

I know both Aristotle and Plato extremely well. If you need any help just post in the philosophy thread.

The complete works of Plato was my first philosophy book. It was given to me from a very special friend that I lost. The greatest dialogue in that book, for me, is the Phaedrus. It's about friendship, love and rhetoric. What sex is to the body, speech is to the soul. The entire dialogue reads like lyrical poetry to me. It's all about improving the chaos within to harmonize your soul. What a lovely thing for a friend to give...

thats so true.
i wish a guy that was into me would give me a philosophy book.
hed win my heart.

hahaha i havent been thinking about relationships in months but as soon as you mentioned sex...
but i DID read your whole comment. its just you mentioned love and then...sex....so

but anyway im focusin so much on my schooling right now anyway.
yea i need to get into plato more but im not sure how right now im going to be able to get interested in him. i dont remember what my first philosophy book was.

i think i got interested in philosophy actually through reading the bible to be very honest and then i think i went straight to Sartre because he mainly known for writing about what i was interested in at the time of my life - which was where am i going and who am i really? and then i went to Foucault only because i found out about his book Madness and i read the whole book. well the whole one that i bought anyway. idk if theres more to it. and i was looking into the ways philosophy and psychology had a connection. but since i was new to it i was looking for a pretty direct connection that id understand.
