What can make psychosis so overwhelming is our lack of insight into what's going on. Discovering that other people have gone through similar experiences and made it through them, that alone can be tremendously calming.

Other simple activities or practices that can be calming include:

- Deep breathing.

- Visualizing a mandala.

- Taking a relaxing bath. (Some recommend adding an essential oil to the bath water, such as lavender.)

- Going for a walk in a natural setting. (Some recommend walking barefoot if you can.)

- Channeling the energy in a creative manner, such as creating a piece of art.

- Channeling the energy in a physical manner, such as dancing.

- Eating a heavy meal.

- Sleeping (if you can) and if not sleeping, resting.

- Listening to calming music.

Always glad to lend a shoulder, Darrell.

Meantime, as an observation... I've noticed that sometimes my sense of self-identity gets a bit shaken, usually as a result of having brushed up against something that serves as a trigger. When that happens my ego boundaries can get a little feathered or ragged and Life gets a bit blurry at the edges. Sometimes it's useful to ride that storm out to see where it takes me. Other times, it's more practical to move out of that space. You'll have to decide what's the best option for you at this time but do know that you'll make it through.

Laughter is always good medicine too. Here's a favorite that always makes me laugh:

thank you (((muffy))))) Psychosis i get so 'under it all' sometimes ... thank you for being there to supprt me.... you may never know how much you matter.... but i hope you will ... (((heart))))

s_e .. thank you for coming to my aide.. thinking about all the things i think about gets to be overwhelming at times and i just have to dig in a little deeper, hang on a little tighter...

ive used as many 'natural' aides as i can find and held on tight to those that worked best for me.... definately relaxation techniques have helped many many times...

the mandalas... thats a little different... sometimes they calm... sometimes they energize... truly magical wonders they ave worked for me.... something that can take 29 years of depression and sweep it away and replace it with life giving strength and belief... now thats something....

Do what I do, Echoes, when I want to know something: look it up on Google! Here is what Wikipedia says (among other things):

Mandala (Sanskrit maṇḍala मंडलः "circle", "completion") is a term used to refer to various objects. It is of Hindu origin [citation needed], but is also used in other Indian religions, such as Buddhism. In the Tibetan branch of Vajrayana Buddhism, they have been developed into sandpainting. In practice, mandala has become a generic term for any plan, chart or geometric pattern that represents the cosmos metaphysically or symbolically, a microcosm of the Universe from the human perspective.

In various spiritual traditions, mandala may be employed for focusing attention of aspirants and adepts, a spiritual teaching tool, for establishing a sacred space and as an aid to meditation and trance induction.
