I've been depressed for a long time. But I'm now starting to feel better, I've started to think about what's good for me and what's not. And I know that I need to change my life style, because I've done everything wrong. I've started to care more about myself instead of only caring about what other people expects from me and thinks about me. So, I want to ask for advice/ideas, only simple advice on how I can make everyday better, something simple that has helped you?

So glad to read you're doing better!! I like it!!

Don't use double standards, one for you and one for the world around you.
Look at yourself as if you're your own friend and treat yourself that way... This helped me a lot. If there's a voice in your head making you feel wrong, simply asking yourself 'Would I say this to my friend too?'. If not, ignore it! :-)
Thanks for this!

Thanks for your advice! I do that a lot, think something bad about myself that I wouldn't think about someone else. I haven't stopped doing it yet. It's a really good advice that I for some reason haven't cared enough about, yet.

I like to read books where other people are struggling with issues and see how they respond and do better, etc. Positive novels, in other words, help me and give me good ideas as well as are "free" and take some of the weight off me for a little bit while I'm reading them.

Thanks, I really love reading, but for some reason I haven't done that for a while. I think I've been too stressed. I like horror novels, makes me feel good because I realize life isn't that bad at all, it's not like in the book. I'm planning to start reading again.

Just wondering... Do you have any plans on switching certain things in your life? You say you've done everything wrong. That sounds as if you're up for a radical change. Or it's more a step-by-step thing?

Another thing that helps me btw; I made a list with things I see as rewards for myself. Every day I tell myself to pick out, let's say 2 or 3. It keeps me questioning what I really like, what I really do for myself ànd I keep doing them this way.
Thanks for this!

Yes I've done everything wrong. I've not cared about what I'm eating for example, and just because it didn't make me fat I believed there was nothing to worry about, but now I know I need to eat healthy. I could stay at home for days without doing anything. And I cared a lot about what people expected from me, which made me really stressed. I need advice on anything that's simple but good. Anything that's good for my health. And thanks for all the good advice

I know that, the food thing... I wasn't fat either, completely not, but eating tons and tons of 'wrong' food. Nothing to worry abut, I thought. But eating healthy feels so much better! No more sugar cravings and sugar headaches. :-)

The staying home and doing nothing... I'm still pretty good at that though. hehe

But sometimes I try to challenge myself. Until now only in sports though. I need it to make me feel good about myself, I think. But I hope I can add some other challenges too (which would be real challenges for me, I guess). Some more art, some about being more social,...
Thanks for this!

I carry stuff I love with me. I used my cell phone and new software on it to create a picture of my desk/work area and I use that as the home screen on my phone so no matter where I go, I have "my space" with me?

Want some simple advice.
