Blue Bird, you are so motivated!

Well, I've done 2 loads of laundry, but I've not done well with taking them out of the dryer once they're done. So right now I have jeans & towels in my dryer.

My next goal is to get rid of a bunch of clothing that doesn't fit & that I'm just holding onto "in case" I lose weight. I might, but I've been waiting to lose weight magically for about 3 years or so, so I think it's time to let some of that stuff go! Plus, I just have too much of some stuff. I must have like 30 tank tops. Who needs 30 tank tops?! It's just a little out of hand with some things.
Thanks for this!

Ha ha, music junkie -- you hoard tank tops the way I hoard sweaters. I hope you are better at tossing them than I am! I'm still hanging on to some of my skinny clothes...

Angelique, I hope your friend is able to carry down that wooden panel. Big, heavy things are always nice to get rid of.

Happywoman, I like knowing how long it takes to do something. When we're thinking about doing some sort of cleaning/decluttering task, it seems like it is going to take forever, but a lot of time, it's only 10 minutes or so. I definitely spend more time dreading this stuff than doing it.

Bluebird, I hope I can get to the point where I see a messy room and it bothers me enough to clean it.
Thanks for this!

No decluttering or cleaning but a few chores
Hvert didn't time things .These took all day throught the day
1 and 1/4 loads complete load of clothes washing
2 loads through the dishwasher
Took out garbage and recycling
Goal for tomorrow is decluttering / clearing the dining table and starting in kitchen cupboard
Thanks for this!

I cleaned my room again today I wish I had carpet in here and could just vacuum, every little thing shows up on wood floors (fake wood). Lol

Ack, it's already 10:30 and I'm still in PJs, haven't really started my day. I'm actually sitting on top of my clean laundry that's been on the couch for three days as I type this. My goal is to get this laundry put away, clean up the dining room, and then take a shower and get dressed.
Thanks for this!

Yesterday I put away the laundry, started some more, vacuumed and washed the hall, stairs, kitchen, and DR floors and wiped the worst spots in the bathroom. Did the dishes that I've been neglecting for a few days...

The floor washing was prompted by someone knocking on the door earlier in the day. I suspected it was a neighbor dropping off cookies -- and I was right. He knocked again just as I finished.

This is so awful, to not even want to open the door because the house is so disgusting. It's not just the mess - it's the general state of things. It's a 100 year old house that needs some work.

I emailed an Extreme Cleaning specialist company for a free estimate. I don't know when I'll hear from them and I know I can't afford it but I just wanted to find out.

Wow, that would be nice!

Once again it's 10 AM and I'm still loafing around. I'm sure I'll do some cleaning, but I guess for now making breakfast might be a start.

Wow, you did a lot!

I know what you mean about not wanting to open the door. I don't let anyone in my house; it's so embarrassing! I hate when people ring my doorbell.
Thanks for this!

It's awful. The electrician and someone else were here again today and I heard them talking in low tones but I couldn't hear what about. I absolutely hate letting anyone in here.

There are some pretty helpful videos on youtube about organizing and cleaning. Such as several from this individual: Home Organizing by Alejandra.tv She offers several very good free ones and also has a complete package for purchase. With the free ones you can see where she's going with this and be able to start cleaning and organizing.

Thanks. I could probably start if it weren't for my back. (And if I didn't feel so overwhelmed!) Maybe I'll check those out. Thanks again!

Thanks! When I finally went downstairs yesterday, I was kind of shocked to see how much I had done. I had forgotten to list it all! It was *really* nice to come downstairs to a cleaner place.

I did some more work in the bathroom yesterday, long neglected deep cleaning. A while ago I bought a $5 electric toothbrush for a home renovation project. I've used it a couple of times this week for cleaning tasks -- it's great.

Do you think you would stop hating people ringing your doorbell if your place were cleaner? I think my place will never be clean enough, even if it really is.

Angelique, I also hate it when people come in to do work and I feel like they are talking about me. Hopefully they see a lot of messy places and don't get phased by it anymore. I had one guy actually organize part of my basement when he came to do the furnace, which I thought was kind of funny.
Thanks for this!

Oh I didn't assume they were talking about me, but their voices were so low they obviously wanted to keep me out of whatever it was. I should check the door to make sure my apartment wasn't condemned.

If I just put on a pair of plastic gloves I can go through some of the dusty mail and papers in here. I'd feel a lot better afterward if I did.

When the apartment maintenance guy came in in October to change over the heating unit, he commented that my apartment looked like his garage, where he kept his truck and a lot of truck parts, just stuff all over the place. I said, "there could be a truck in here, you never know!"

!! That was kind of rude of him!

There was some kind of blasting going on in my area a few years ago so they sent someone out with a video camera to take footage in case people complained about broken foundations later on. I didn't let them in for a long time but they finally caught me when I was in my yard. It was a very bad time as I had a dog that could no longer walk up and down the stairs to go outside and I was using pee pads for her. It was so embarrassing.

It does. Yesterday I threw away an old bag of m&ms that had been on the windowsill for over a year. Believe it or not, I still feel conflicted about that. Like they were a part of the ambience or something. Just crazy. I won't feel attached to all the paper garbage though.

So today I'm hoping to get the dishes done, clean out the fridge and pick up the living room. The fridge is just disgusting with chicken in there stinking up my whole apt. Same with the dishes, I haven't done them in awhile. I've been in a pretty severe depression.

Then I have to go buy a couple more presents...Ugh I do everything last minute...

Definitely! It would help a lot. I still wouldn't like it because it makes my dog howl like you're killing her, but it would be so much better!

I just threw out a useless old box that had old stale tobacco in it. Threw the contents in a trash bag, then broke down the carton and put it in. That felt good!

I've been trying to use the rule "when you bring something in you have to get rid of something". I've found myself even doing more throwing out than bringing in, lately.

I haven't heard of that. So does it apply no matter the size of what you bring in?
