Not much decluttering in the past couple of days, but we've been keeping up with the dishes. The empty space where that over-the-door shelf used to be is AWESOME. It's amazing how much cleaner a room looks just because it has less crap in it.

I'm trying to find motivation to do anything right now. Maybe I will start with the dishes...
Thanks for this!

Not much cleaning here, either. I've got to push myself harder!

I haven't been getting anything done. I've been sliding into a depressed funk and sleeping all hours of the day and night. Very discouraged.

Sorry you're not doing well lately. I think that if I didn't have to come to work, I would be spending most of my time sleeping as well. Haven't been feeling that happy lately.

Thank you music junkie. I don't know what to do for myself to get me out of this. Sorry to hear you are struggling too.

I just filed some papers that have been hanging around for months. The experience actually left me feeling more upset than satisfied. My filing cabinet is in the room my boyfriend uses for an office. It is a horrible disaster, the kind of room that could be on a hoarder tv show. There are no longer even any paths and I had crap falling on me as I sat there filing.

I don't want to nag him about this until I get my own areas of mess under control, but it's just horrible and unbelievable. The back room we use as a pantry and cookbook storage area is also getting to the point where it is hard to even get to anything because there is so much crap in there.

I did put batteries in a smoke detector and we are still keeping up with dishes. I also bought flowers for the dining room which motivated me to clean up the area surrounding them. I should probably move them to different parts of the house, LOL

More ... something... done today. I decided to really, finally, once and for all clean out the living room. I cleared off the coffee table (which is huge - I could sleep on it). I then started to remove all the figurines and photos I had all over the place, all the stuff that wasn't books jammed in my bookshelf, etc.

The room looks WAY better without that stuff there, but I am not sure where else I can put all of it. Right now it's all sitting on the coffee table and the couch!
Thanks for this!

I found new homes for half the stuff I moved out of the living room last night. Still keeping up with the dishes, too!

I threw out three sweaters with holes and only picked one of them back out of the trash.

I'm having an extremely difficult time finding motivation to do anything besides watch movies and tv shows on the laptop and surf the web.
Thanks for this!

Good job with the sweaters. My gf has that problem; she always wants to take things back out of the trash after she throws them away. It's really hard for her, as I imagine it is for you.

I'm also struggling with motivation lately. I know I said I was going to force myself to clean something every day, but so far it's only happened a couple of times. The other day (Monday?) I did force myself to scrub the bathroom walls to get all the dust off. It made me happy to do it but getting started was tough!
Thanks for this!

I need to clean my room today. I'm really tired though so maybe I'll take a nap then wake up and be ready to start

Thought maybe I could try a little declutter from my small flat that has many cluttered areas.
Last Saturday took my sons outgrown clothes to salvos.
I 'll check back in when I do something, just contemplating at the moment.
Another positive great thread.
Thank you

Another one of those weeks where I have been avoiding this thread because the house is trashed! Sometimes I see tv shows or movies where the police are searching the criminal's house and the house is supposed to be messy... but it is still neater than mine

I am going to go do something so I can report back an accomplishment.
Thanks for this!

Progress report: I took 23 minutes and did the dishes, cleared off the counters and stove, and swept the kitchen floor.

Great work, hvert! I'm happy you got so much done!

Yesterday we took time to finally clear our dining room table completely & put up our small tabletop xmas tree. Decorated it & everything. That's really the extent of our xmas decorating, but we hadn't done it, so I'm happy now that it is ready.
Thanks for this!

Lol i know! My place always looks like those shows where the cops come in and say, "wow they really trashed this place- they emptied out all the drawers and threw all clothes on the floor!" And the owner all embarrassed says, "oh no it always looks like this."

I HAVE been doing extra little tasks in the kitchen lately that i usually say i'll do NEXT time, but then next time never comes? So its getting a little fresher in there. Like under the stove, under the sink, back of the sink.
Thanks for this!

Hankster, cleaning under the stove and under the sink sound like advanced practices!

Music-Junkie, I'm glad you got your tree up. I bet that will be sort of motivating when it comes to keeping the table clear of stuff -- at least for a bit

Bluebird, your diligence impresses as usual

Here's to all of us keeping our rooms clean and taking more junk to the dump or thrift shop!

Tomorrow the garbage will get thrown out but I don't think my friend can carry down a big wooden panel I want to throw away.

Well I ended up cleaning my room today instead of waiting until Sunday. Besides, it will probably have to be straightened up again before Christmas anyway and it was driving me crazy lol
