Good job stargazer!! You got a lot done.
I didn't do my walk today and my 30 minutes of paperwork turned into doing office stuff nearly ALL day. I just wanted to get that stuff over with. I got a huge amount done. There is still more to do- always more, more.
I should plan my day tonight for tomorrow but right now I just want to not think.

Just found this thread- it's perfect, so thank you! Last spring, I found that somehow I had the contents of 3 houses in one. Actually , the somehow had lots of story behind it. I hired a personal organizer who specializes in chronic disorganization and hoarding and she has worked with me about 6 full days over the past year. It was so hard to let her see the Mhes the first time. Some day I will be brave enough to post the pictures showing the changes. After a year, I'm largely down to the things I want to get rid of, but I think are worth some money. The organizer had discouraged me from saving things in order to sell them, but I made the decision that I would try to sell anything I thought I could get at least $ 10.00 for on EBay. Recently I've had trouble getting myself to list things, then to pack them and send them off- but I just paid some bills with the $500.00 I made this month. I think I need to remember that when I can't get myself to list the stuff, it is because I still have trouble getting rid of some things. I've found that it helps to list something I really don't care about to get the momentum going. I'm setting as goal of selling about 5-7 things a week till I'm happy with what I have left. That's about how much I can handle mailing out. Anyone else found places to sell things or have good systems?
Thanks for this!

I've never sold things- when I'm in the mood to get rid of stuff I want it gone asap so I either take it to the thrift store or list it on Craigslist under free stuff if it's large. I would suggest craigslist as another place to sell stuff. Posting there is easy and free.

Nice to know I'm not the only one who saves stuff to list on eBay and then doesn't get around to it. I started making a pile in a corner of my dining room so I could list during the Christmas buying season. Still sitting there...

My house is so trashed. This is the worst it's been in a long time. My new work schedule + too many volunteer commitments + money to spend having fun = really horrible mess. The couch is piled not just with laundry (clean and dirty), but with papers, a plastic container full of random stuff, a box with my latest amazon order, a box of tissues, my laptop power adapter, my purse, a bag I used on a trip yesterday (still full). Sitting? No.

All surfaces look the same. Stuff piled on them. Stuff I need to do but which I haven't made the time for. Sink and counter full of dishes. Countertops covered in random stuff. There's no more room.

I think I will take 30 minutes right now and see how much I can clear away. Sometimes when it looks really bad, it doesn't actually take that much time to process.

I hope everyone has been more successful at staying tidy than I have! Angelique, at least the snow is starting to melt, right?
Thanks for this!

I did manage to put away everything that was on the couch in the alloted half hour, as well as some odds and ends that were on counters/tables. Still no where near clean, but a lot less disastrous.
Thanks for this!

My place is similar, every surface is piled with stuff. I'm worried it may never get done. Worried this is the end of everything. But yes, the change in the weather is a huge relief! I just wish I weren't in so much pain and anxiety.

Your kitchen sounds like mine. It's a real incentive not to have appliances!

I did manage to clean off most of the surfaces in my kitchen. The couch is still empty, I did all the dishes (before making dinner, so sink is full again) and laundry is in the dryer...
Thanks for this!

I thought today would be a nice day to stay inside and take care of odds and ends, but it's just stressing me out. I'm having trouble figuring out where to start. I've done a bunch of stuff, but I still feel like the place is a disaster (because it is).

I have sixty million things on my to-do list. Maybe if I just pick out ten of them, I can focus.

1. Clean up compost area
2. Finish dishes.
3. Bake cookies
4. vac cat litter
5. start peppers
6. clean out car (vac)
7. email contact about next week
8. send off marketing stuff
9. clean out fridge
10. change sheets

And, of course, now that I wrote all of those out, I am immediately distracted by something else...

Okay, I spent a little over an hour doing stuff. I cleaned up the compost, did the dishes, baked cookies, vacced the cat litter area, sent the email, and cleaned out the fridge. It's too cold to do the car so I just picked up the trash. The cats looked too comfy to change the sheets. I was supposed to write a press release type thing by Friday, but I am still waiting for someone else to give me info I need to do it... and I am thinking of waiting to start the peppers because I am going to be gone for a week and won't be able to water them (they need a lot of heat and dry out quickly).

So six done, four postponed or half done. Not sure what comes next...
Thanks for this!

You guys got me going - i just finished washing dishes. I am managing to eat fairly healthfully and still keep the mess created to a minimum, so cleaning up isnt a 3 day job anymore. Also i am drinking lots of herbal tea.
Thanks for this!

Hankster...a tip on keeping the kitchen clean...do your dishes along the way...before you begin cooking, run a sink of dishwater...as you go through your cooking process, drop your used dishes in there and wash them up real quick as things simmer/bake/fry...makes things so much easier...a quick wipedown and sweep/quick mop will top it off in under 15mins

Spring has sprung!...and with it the spring cleaning...which corresponds with my resulting hypomania as i pull out of the SAD station for the year...

thank God for that!

i am well on my way, with the lil one's room deep cleaned and aired out and ready for the redo in there that will begin in a few weeks...

yesterday i got out all the stored household items and began reassembling my living room, which is a huge relief

today: vaccing/shampooing furniture and floors...right after breakfast!...

the recipe i use these days (found on Pinterest)

Method:
Mix together in a pitcher or large bowl the tide, awesome cleaner, oxiclean and the downy (optional). Then add in hot water gently so you don’t make too many bubbles.
Goal Tracking: Declutter and Cleaning
Mix gently until oxyclean is dissolved. Pour in a gallon sized jug for storage. This recipe makes this a concentrated mix just like the fancy $20 rug doctor solution where you only add in like 1/4 cup of the solution to a gallon of water. So add in only a little bit of this solution each time you add water, or better yet just follow the instructions per your machine.

I just got back in from a trip - whenever I leave my house and come back, I feel pretty overwhelmed with how chaotic and cluttered the place is. I did some tidying, need to do more...

I decided that rather than driving two hours to go somewhere to acquire more things, I should probably stay at home and clean/work on projects with stuff I already have. Can that be my accomplishment for the day or do I need to do something else?

Okay ready for the bug guy. And i have a countable number of laundry baskets by the front door. Unfortunately i still have an uncountable amount of laundry by the balcony. But i really am making progress. So far just in cleaning and moving stuff around. But thats okay.
