Yes it does, but others cannot get why people cut. It is sort of like when you get a painful surgery they might have someone sqeeze your hand or when you were around 7 and were told when you wreck your bike and get all cut up to put pressure on it or shake it off, well sure it hurts and is just more pain but it get s your mind onto a different thing to think about. So when you cut it helps take over or distract you from that Psychological pain.

Cutting serves its purpose quite well....it's like setting one fire to conquer another....and that it does....most people look on it horrifically....others of us know....and know all too well what relief it can provide.....
I hear what you are saying....

Hello I hope you are doing well at this time. I understand that the pain subsides with the cutting, but the issues have still gone unattended to that caused the cutting. you are disassociating from the pain instead of dealing with the pain, and helping yourself. The issues that you have are not getting resolved adequately, so the cutting is still the only option of expression that you have, because you choose this option, to express your emotions. There is professional help for cutters available at this time, that works well for the cutting, and reteaches people how to have emotions and react to them in a positive manner, instead of cutting. journaling is also a good therapeutic tool, and poetry as well. It is okay to feel pain, and it is okay to feel hurt, but when the cutting is no longer meeting your emotional needs any longer, due to the fact you still have to deal with pain, it is time to get help for the cutting, and learn how to deal with thepain in a safer manner. I will leave you my email address neohiodbsa@yahoo.com if you would like to email or need more information, I will give you my address as well if you would like to write, if you would like to write poetry or need more support. Email me for my home address if you are interested. I would love to heare from any of you that would like to share your stories and your interests Take care Soidhonia
