I know a lot of people cut their arms. I cut my fingers. Does anyone else do this? If you are comfortable sharing, where do you cut/SI? Sorry if that's a weird question. I was just curious, especially since I've never heard of anyone else cutting their fingers.

I have been SI free for two years, but I did cut my fingers, just because I could get away with saying it was a paper cut. I just couldn't do it frequently or in a row. I especially used to cut my stomach and thighs and only rarely my arms. Inconspicuous places.

Yes, I started cutting very recently and I am terrified of my parents or other people finding out so the safest place for me to cut is my fingers, even though I now have rows of cuts down 2 of my fingers, people never look at my fingers at least not the inside part so nobody notices.

Pretty much I've done it everywhere, my arms, legs, head, face, fingers, toes, feet, stomach, chest. I don't think I've done my back, but I mostly cut my arms. I am trying really hard not to cut anything though. I hope you're getting help for this.

My left forearm (I'm right handed.) I tried my thigh, less obvious places, but it didn't feel the same. Had to be my arm. It's a mess now. I've not SI-d in a few weeks though. Hoping most of the scars will eventually fade.

Best of luck to everyone in finding more positive ways to cope xx

Used to be my upper arm, then moved to my thighs, and now to my stomach, because I can hide it if it's on my stomach. I don't want anyone else to see Nobody needs to know I am doing it, it's better that they don't know

I cut on my arm between my wrist and elbow, that entire area is covered. I used to cut on my thighs but I find I don't get the same relief.

hope you are getting help.

Sadly, no, I am not getting help. Nobody knows except kinda my best friend, but I hardly told her anything about it. I started cutting like a month ago, but only little scratches. They didn't bleed. But a week or two ago I did it again. And for 5 or 6 consecutive days now I have been cutting. And it makes me feel like some creepy "emo" freak to admit this, but I don't want to stop. I know it's bad but it makes me feel better about everything. And I don't regret it either; it's like I'm proud of the cuts. Is that terrible?

You may have read elsewhere, how cutting can release endorpins or feel good chemicals into our bodies - SI therefore can become addicitve and progressive - needing to do it more frequently / more intensely - there are many people who have permanent scars who may have felt about them like you do, but now wish they don't have them. I do not think your thoughts and feelings about it are unusual for people who did SI.

I would srongly advise you to get help with whatever it is that is leading you to SI - my T and I do not focus on my SI (thinking / focusing too much on it can make it worse apparently) - but we look at the other stuff that leads me to choosing SI as a coping strategy. Not sure whether you feel able to talk to your parents about this or is there a counsellor at school?

You are not a creepy emo freak - because if you are that makes me one too - for me I know that I have had a rough time in life which leads me to being overwhelmed by things and SI is just a strategy I have learned helps me in the short term.

Keep safe - Soup

I haven't cut for about 5-6 months, but i would always cut my wrists. I wore bracelets all the time, so it was easy for me to cover them.

Cutting isn't something I do all the time, but sadly I have before. I have cut my upper thighs and my hips before.

I never use to cut and just started doing it in the last few months. My cat has very long claws so I can sometimes get away with cutting the very lowest part of my wrist and say he did it while I was sleeping. Since it's winter I really get a lot of relief from where my arm bends. But, the easiest but most uncomfortable to deal with for a few days is the bottom of my feet. I like it bc nobody can see it and I can do it till I feel relief. I don't know why I started this new behavior but feel safe knowing I can say it without being judged. Thanks

I have done it on my chest, stomach, hips, thighs, knees, feet, fingers, hands, wrists, elbows and shoulders. but mostly on my shoulders, wrists and thighs.
I would like to believe that I have stopped with it, but sometimes I find myself wishing for it Yes I know it's bad, and that's why I'm fighting it.
Unfortunally I have a new but "better" habbit I have developed while Im trying not to cut. Instead of cutting, I beat myself. Sometimes with a metal candlestick or other hard or heavy objects, but especially objects with sharp edges or tips. So now I have bruises all over my body instead of cuts. But it isn't as good as the other and it's hard not to give in.

I wouldn't say beating yourself is better than cutting yourself! I hope you can find a way to stop

Well... I know beating isn't that good either, but I think it's better than the other, and easier to hide. I don't think I can stop completely... not yet anyways

Anywhere to be honest. Arms, upper arms, chest, thighs, stomach - to me it doesn't matter, i hate my body and although self harming probably isn't going to make me feel any better about it im trapped in that vicious cycle where the hate fuels more injury which in turn fuels more self loathing. Not nice.

I was cutting on my left arm while at work if stress was too high.
I cut on my chest at home when my heart hurt.
I have used pins though all over sometimes though.

I tend to SI on my legs....but I have done it on my arms and stomach in the past....I strongly urge you to at least talk to someone about it, I know it's very scary to let people in and talk about your struggles, but it may help. Stay safe.

While I'm not comfortable discussing details, I can say that I've got scars pretty much covering just about every inch of my body that I've ever been able to reach from the time I was a little kid right on up to the here and now.

Therapy has helped quite a bit, but I don't know if I'll ever be able to completely stop even though I try mightily.

One thing I found especially odd is that when I started therapy and it came up, I self-injured more intensely than ever before. Of course, that eventually tapered off, but it was freaky for sure!

Anybody else experience that?
