Hello, My therapist said I should try this. First, I have dissociative identity dissorder and two of my alters use self harm to relieve the pain. I feel that important for all to know.

So, I am just saying hello for now.

Hello Everyone,

Justice, I decided to answer your question here as others may also be curious. I usually am triggered into a dissociative state, like an upsetting event, someone yelling, or it can be a certain word. I don't always know, depending upon the intensity of the trigger. It seems to start with confusion, I can't find the right words, people look unfamiliar - stuff like that. My therapist says he can tell by different actions.

I get scared because two of them have done self-harm in the past and as therapy intensifies, the thoughts come back. And the self-harm. I feel so ashamed.

Typically there is a headache and or a lightheaded feeling before switching. If I am being triggered a lot, I ignor these warnings. My alters have different visual impairments so the space between me and other objects can change suddenly.

There is no reason for feeling shame! Your actions make sense to the you that does them because of past experiences
