I've been a Self Mutilator for around 6 years now, and 4 days ago (2 days before my birthday (happy birthday to me huh)) I cut after being 3 months clean....and my family thinks I stopped a year ago. They already know about 2 of my relapses...out of many. But this time they moved on and wanted to forget about it (it's hard for them to deal with) And I don't want to tell them again. I don't feel I have too. But I might go see a doctor soon and I don't want the doctor to tell them....but he might because I "am a danger to myself and others."

I don't know what to do...

Because the urge to cut is back with a vengeance.

First of all, 3 months is an amazing achievement that should be acknowledged. Well done. You can do this. You can get there again. I know it's difficult now but you can do it

Most doctors do not see SI as a danger. With a little understanding they often see it for what it is - pain release, not necessarily suicide intent. But as hard as it is I really suggest talking to someone. You should not have to do this all on your own and having someone you can talk to and who can keep you accountable really can help.

I met a gut in the hospital and he had cuts on is arm and i asked him why he cuts himself he didn't know why but did say what you said for a feeling of pain release. we all gathrd arond him and begged him not to do it anymore, he listened but i hope he was helped by that,.Sometimes just knowing someone cares may be all you are looking for;not attention but human companioship and love. I love everybody, everybody has problems but i think its how you learned or something went wrong long ago inyou life you maybe forgot and it my hve been a learned behavior this you may be able to control if you letothers help you. Also don't let pride get in the way

Is therapy an option?
