I've noticed I've been doing something instead of cutting. I've been taught to substitute a "skill" that produces an intense feeling like cutting does. Well, I found one...one that gives me the same exact feeling!

I do something most women would never admit to doing...I masturbate. When I cut I get the same exact feeling that I get from masturbating. The feelings and emotions that I experience are the same with both.

Unlike most cutters, I feel no guilt, shame, negative feelings, etc. about my cutting. I feel great when I do it. Ha, I guess you could say it's better than sex! LOL I can't find one person who reacts to cutting the same way I do.

I noticed I started this substitution last night when I wanted to cut so badly but instead masturbated after I had had a flashback. For me it doesn't involve anything sexual, but more of an intense feeling.

well, heck, if it works it works!

Makes sense if you think about it. Because sexual pleasure would release all of those good chemicals and such in your brain.

Im not sure I get the same feeling, but I can see how you would.

Just be sure its not linked to shame or pain, or self-hatred thoughts. Take care of yourself!!

One of my friends suggested that once to me and it did work a little depending on my emotions and desired feelings at the time.

While I have never cut..... I have used masturbation to substituted the feeling of death that seemed to overwhelm me all most every day of my life at one time (and) YES while masturbation did help on a surface level the sadness I used it to numb always returned..... for while pleasure left me feeling good, very good, at the moment it did not and could not erase the real problem - that of which I had to work on from with in my self in order to heal and to get past my drug of choice (sexual pleasure).

BTW - there was one big CON that began to take place during this time..... I started to not be able to react to my husbands hand over my own - my body was learning to not need him.

PLEASE - - - Precede with Extreme Caution if you are in a relationship or a marriage with another..... or plan to be any time soon.

Thank you Rhapsody for the info and advice. I hadn't thought of that before and that is something that people should be aware of.

Unfortunately this is something that did happen. I don't receive much pleasure from anyone but me.

I have used masterbation as a substitute, sometimes it did indeed work.... but as Rhapsody said, I too had trouble for a while with my body not responding well to my husbands touches.... For me I had to work out a balance....
