I'm desperate. I need to cut. I'm going to lose it if I don't hurt myself... Badly I'm so stressed. And so depressed. I can't take it any more. I don't know what to do. I know cutting is bad so I'm trying to find a solution before I take out my frustrations on my body. But I'm not sure how much longer I can resist. I need help! PLEASE!!! I'm about to break. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP! Advice would be great |

Hey there,
If you can really think and identify the causes of your stress and depression, then you're already halfway there... cutting doesn't make our problems go away, it just lets us stop thinking about them, even if it's only a little while. But the root problem doesn't go away. Don't let cutting define who you are... it's not something that's part of you but rather something that you have imposed on yourself that's hard to get rid of. If you could talk to somebody, anybody, about it in real life that would help too. I know that what I've said is probably not of much help, but I just wanted to let you know that we're all here for you! - AJ |

Try cutting a piece of paper or a stuffed animal. I hate hurting stuffed animals but it really is better than hurting you. Just stabbing my pillow with an exacto knife makes me feel better, and its better than hurting me. Do you have a T or someone at school (a teacher or friend) you could talk to. I know it is really hard to get help but it will make you feel so much better... even just knowing someone knows what you are going through and cares about you can make all the difference in the world. I also find drawing helps me... I like drawing razors or images of what I want to do and that helps especially since you can keep it and look back on it... its like a scar not on your body. I hope this helps... keep us updated

You really need help. Go to a school counselor or teacher or doctor. They can help you feel so much better. I promise.

one of my best grounding objects is taking a sheet of paper and writing a bunch of names of different colors, but when u write the color use a different color marker to write it with. for example, if u write the word purple write it in yellow then the next write green but use a red marker to write it. after u have written about 20 or so names of colors in a different color. then u read it. first try reading the name of the color. read all the names of colors. when ur done try reading all the names of colors, read the all actully color of the marker u used. it will work both sides of ur brain, because one side of ur brain reads words and the other sees color. there is a name for this but i cant remember it. i hope i explained it ok.

Sometimes there are real reasons why a person cannot get the help they need that no one else can understand. We need to be respectful of that. Sometimes just saying, "I'm sorry you're hurting, I'm here if you need to talk" is a lot more helpful then saying go to and ED or something along those lines.

It's called the Stroop Effect. I never thought to use this psych-thing as a grounding technique. so Thanks for the idea. It does take a lot of focus to say the color and not read the word. ![]() |
