Hi, Okay I have been cutting mydself with a kitchen knife for about a year now.
At first they were just little scratches that faded in a day or two, then they started to get deeper and deeper and I've scarred all of my left arm and have moved down onto my wrist.
I know deep down that I want to stop, but I crave the attention I get from people at my school yet I dread my parents finding out because they would be so ashamed/upset/angry
I know that it is wrong to do this, I don't do it just for attention either, if my mum and dad start up another argument I see that knife and often can't resist it.
I feel so pathetic and weak,
I'm only 14 and I'm thinking about death/Suicide..........

As you know, this is not a fun way to live your life. You don't want your parents to find out, but you really need to talk to either them or another responsible adult who can help you deal with this. Cutting is just what shows up on the surface - there are deeper problems that make you feel that way, and it's really too much to deal with all by yourself. Your parents might have a hard time dealing with it at first, but probably because they love you and it is scary when someone you love hurts so much and is thinking about death. There is so much more to life and all the good parts are ahead of you. Please give yourself a chance and talk to someone about this problem.

Cutting never solved any problems. Sure it makes you feel relief for a little while but the problem remains. You need to seek help. There are things that can help relieve your depression and your suicidal thoughts. There are people who can teach you coping strategies that leave you healthy and well while providing relief. SI just numbs you so you don't have to face your problems but like anything that just numbs you it ends up compounding your problems in the end. So try to find another way if you can.

Can you tell us why you feel you need this kind of attention at school?
