Does anyone else document their SI in anyway (photos, written, drawing, etc.)?
I take photos and save them. My Pdoc says it's not that uncommon, so I was wondering if anyone else did.

I've heard of people who do that, but I myself don't do it. For me my privacy is needed, if I did keep pics I would get worried that someone would find the photos. However I don't think it's that uncommon either.

I've know a bunch of people that do... I only ever did once, an dthen I promptly deleted it in case anyone found it... can't have that getting around... but I do know quite a few people that document it in some way.
For me it's just that T wants me to write down times (not quite sure why, we have not gotten into the time thing yet, just the frequency thing)... |

Sometimes I write about them in my diary, but that kind of annoys me. However, I do (most times) take photos. Usually the day after (when I like my cuts the most). I've never posted them online anywhere or shown them to anyone (or even told anyone that I have them), but I do. And they are located in a folder inside of a folder inside of a folder (x about 10) on my computer - so to find them would be intentional. I usually email them to myself, so I also have a folder in my email for them that I erase when transferred to my computer.

The only person I've ever shown the photos to are my T. And only my T, Pdoc, and fiance know I do this.

I have heard of this, yes. I think for a lot of people it helps validate the intensity of their feelings, to underline the reality of their pain.
I have taken photos myself and thought about using them as a means of bluntly confronting others with my pain. In a couple of scenarios i fell short of better judgement but luckily it's something i know not to do again. How does your T feel about you taking photos? Do they feel it reinforces the addictive nature of this issue? I'm just curious. I'm sure a professional has quite a different take on the issues surrounding SI. |
