All I can say is hold on.

Most of us know the cycle all too well. Negative coping skill to negative coping skill, to negative coping skill....

Why are the negative ones so easy to fall into

Good for you for quitting smoking!

(((((((((((((((((((Jacq))))))))))))))))))))

I know the problem of switching from one addictive behaviour to another. I seem to do it a lot.

Hang in there, you can do it. I KNOW you can.

Be good to yourself, take it one minute, one hour, one day at a time.

my husband quit by turning off the cravings. he would drink grapefruit juiceto help clense his system. he would eat sunflower seeds to mimic the had to mouth motion. he would brush his teeth right after eating then use cinnamon mouth wash to clense his palet and made sure all cigs lighters ashtrays and such were out of the house and the car cleanned to avoid the smell temptation.

give it a try if you really want to quit

I know it's hard and it will take a lot of determnation but you can quit if you really want to. However, if you really think you will get to the point of cutting again, I guess I'd probably choose what you did.

Good luck... with whatever you do.

Stay safe.

See I'm not scared of quitting smoking ... I know I can do it, I don't even smoke that much. But I never knew that by making a conscious decision not to, it would lead to those thoughts. those cravings. It was really scary .... and now i'm scared to "quit" because i dont want to be in that position again ...ugh. cravings

Jaq, I smoked my last cig on Friday... it has been three full days now.... Good for you and good for me. I SI'ed last night, and didn't think it had anything to do with quitting smoking because I have been SI'ing often, smoking or not... but last night was worse than most nights before it.... so maybe that did have something to do with it.... cause I couldn't go outside and have a cigarette.... maybe tonight I will try to do some journal writing... what do you think you could do instead?

Hello (((JACQ))). Good for you for quitting smoking. Perhaps joining a support group may help you at this time, or joining a gym so you can keep your time occupied with positive influences. Take care Jacq if things dont get better call your therapist to help you during this time. Soidhonia
