My friend gave me some tips to stop SI-ing.
1.Use a rubberband. Wear it on your wrist and snap it when you want to cut. 2.Or place an ice cube on your skin, and concentrate on the pain from the coldness of it. |

the rubber band didn't work for me ... the ice does enough to take the edge off... but my t counts them as si... he doesn't want me using pain in any form to cover my emotions.... i find taking a hot shower (not scalding) or walking barefoot on different surfaces, running on the treadmill, and journaling work well too... take gentle care...lyn

Yeah, will give the elastic band a go though seeing as its not as damaging as what I usually do, but it's still SI!

When I was IP this past summer, if you had an urge to si you were supposed to tell the nurses and one of the things they'd offer you were rubber bands that you could snap against your wrist. They also offered pens so that you could draw on yourself. I found drawing on myself the patterns that i would like to cut, really helped me when I first stopped si'ing.
