I dont know where this post to be and was wondering and hope it isn't a trigger for anyone. I know Self-Injury is a copying mechanism and to stay alive . I was wondering has anyone ever felt ending their life since they are cutting/harming themselves? I sometimes feel like to end it all and tired of cutting on myself. However, the reason I cut is for many reasons.

(I added a trigger icon just for safety's sake... hope you don't mind)

Self-injury is generally a way to keep yourself alive. I know the common misconception is that people who SI are suicidal, and that is frequently not the case. However, I have felt disappointed in myself for SIng (on some occassions) that have led to worse thoughts about harming myself.

trigger.....

i did....i figured that the cutting could lead to a possible suicide option. But it wasn't so much that i was tired of cutting, i was tired of everything and cutting just wasn't really enough anymore. It was just something i did.

I hope you don't mind me saying this but i hope that you are getting help for your depression and cutting. It can be a slippery slope from thoughts to action.

take care of yourself. question (possible trigger)

when i started cutting again... it had been several years... the first time i did it... it was kind of a test to see if things got to bad ...if i could... and it just kind of took on a life of it's own from there... but mostly... it keeps me from getting to that place of darkness...lyn

Thanks all. I am getting help for the cutting. I am seeing a psychatrist and when I get a job I may go as well to a theraptist. I posted something in the ask and a person responded I needed to see a Theraptist as well. I agreed fully however, with only Social Security as my only income and paying bills really cant afford it. I see where I can post an Icon. Is there anyway to do it. So people can be safe?

Can you find a place that has free/low-income counselling? Talk to your psychiatrist or local community services, and maybe they can point you in the right direction.

To use the trigger icon, it's up there ^ when you make a reply... it's under the title "Post Icon" and is the red icon with the "x" through it. Just click it to add before you post.

Thanks all to ask in the chat. I met with the pastor today and we talked about some stuff I am post to see a counsellour once a week and agree with him that seeing a psychatrist once a month isnt' good right know. He told me to continue to see the psychatrist but as well see a counselour once a week. If I cant pay for some he will have the church help out.
Thanks
John

I have always made it clear that I do not want to end my life- I only want to escape from all the pain for a while. Yet when I SI there are thoughts about what I COULD do...if I really wanted to. But these are only thoughts, because of the need to escape...And when I have eased the pain I feel ok again...

Thanks Su and rest. I am the same way. It is thoughts but for me the problem was what happen if I go to far. I am not paying attention, etc. There are many questions one asked. I still making the call to the church counsellour. They got weird hours I found out and didn't get chance to catch up with the counsellour after church to see if she got my message. Will make the call again tommorow.
