Sorry for all the threads but this is neat too. I got the book The 7 Healing Chakras. It is too cool. I had talked to me therapist about Kundalini work and she suggested instead of going there that we should work on the chakras individually. She is a transpersonal therapist so we can do soul work and work on energy systems. When I started reading this book, which is written by a psychiatrist and spiritual healer, it was like listening to my therapist. Her "voice" in her writing is so much like Catherine's and she says almost verbatim the things the Catherine says. It is like pulling the warm safety of Catherine's office around me like a blanket. Also a lot of the things that she says about crystals and energy work and stuff is so simular to the things that I have practiced in my pagan studies that it feels comfortable and safe. So often a book will tell me things so strange to my way of thinking that it is difficult to incorporate the ideas into my life but this book seems to fit right, in a gentle comfortable way. It makes me happy.

Oooh. I did Kundalina yoga (and I'm Christian, incidentally) and it was one of the most beautiful experiences I have ever had, in terms of getting in touch with my innermost self. I LOVED it. I felt cradled by the universe!!
![]() We did this visualization thing at the end where we saw ourselves and someone else who needed love, and we imagined them first as they are and then we watched them fill with light and love and everything that they need. And we sang a beautiful song. Wish I could sing it to you, because it speaks to the heart. But here are the words. You can make up your own tune I guess. It's soothing and soft: May the long-time sun shine upon you, all love surround you, and the pure light within you guide your way on What great memories!! ![]()

Carrie:
That sounds amazing. I'll look up that book when I go to the bookstore this weekend. Sounds enlightening. I also have a crystal and believe in their energies. I actually have several and always feel comforted when I'm holding them. They are so healing. thanks for posting this. It's something that I'm very interested in myself. Take Care Hugs, Kimberly. |

The cool thing about kundalini and crystals and such is that they transcend religion. They are in all religions in one form or other so people from all walks can experience them together. But this may be crossing the line in the rules so I will stop talking about it. But I still think it is cool.
Part of the "things to have list" the author has in the book are things that we talk about here. She suggests having journals to write in and a comfort list. I should go back and print out all the comfort lists we have typed out over the past year. LOL. Also she suggests a safe place to practice and friends to lean on. I have the safe place (my desk in my room and my closet) and I have you. ![]() Carrie |

Carrie:
This may sound really dumb. I have two journals that I write in. One for creative expression of moods, emotions, etc and the other just my everyday stuff, but what in the world is a comfort list? When I read it it piqued my interest. I don't think you crossed the line at all. I think this information is wonderful. Take Care. Kimberly. |

A comfort list is a list of all the things you can do to comfort yourself instead of self-injury. We have written down tons of them here. The goal is that when you have urges and can't think of anything other then SI you can get out your list and start trying to do these things that in the past has made you feel better. It is also a good idea to have one if you are going to start working on past emotions and pain because digging into that stuff can affect your ability to find things to help you feel better while you are processing the old junk.
Carrie's Comfort list: slowly eat a creamy chunk of chocolate Go for a walk or a run in the woods Get on Psychcentral and talk to friends Play Video Games (diablo 2 is awesome so is zuma) Write in my journal Take a long hot bath That is a short version but you get the idea. The hope is there will be something on the list that will help to turn the tides. Unfortunately I forget about my comfort list which isn't too helpful. Perhaps I should make a new list and tape it to the wall: Find Comfort list. Pick something off Comfort list If doesn't work Pick something else off comfort list Carrie |
