Hello! First post here. I wasn't sure whether to post this here or in the teen group since I'm only sixteen and I'm not sure how far this ventures into genuinely sexual territory so please forgive me if this is the wrong place for this.

Um, so, I have a really intense and consuming fetish for sexual situations involving torture and murder, blood and guts and the like and I was wondering if I should be concerned by this subject matter?
I've never had sex before and I don't think it's going to happen any time soon, so I'm not worried about hurting myself or anyone else because of this but. I don't know, it just makes me wonder if I have a problem.

Hello fourseventeen: Since this is your first post here on PC... welcome to PsychCentral… from the Skeezyks! I hope you find the time you spend here to be of benefit.

With regard to your concern, fourseventeen, you know... many people have fetishes. And the general consensus of opinion seems to be that they can be almost impossible to get rid of. I don't know if that is absolutely true or not. I struggled with some fetish-like problems in years past. But I finally left them behind. But perhaps they were not real fetishes. There again, I don't know.

Anyway, if one does have a fetish, what seems to be most important is to find ways to indulge it safely (& legally) & to not worry, or beat oneself up, over it. Worrying about it, & feeling guilty for having it, may be of more concern than actually having the fetish itself, if that makes sense. At some point, when there is an opportunity, this may be something that will be worth talking through with a mental health therapist who has experience working with individuals who have fetishes. This may help you to put things into perspective.

PsychCentral is a great place to get information as well as support for mental health issues. There are many knowledgeable & caring members here. The more you post, & reply to other members’ posts, the more a part of the community you will become. Plus there are social groups you can join & chat rooms where you’ll be able to connect with other PC members in real time (once your first 5 posts have been reviewed & approved.) Lots of great stuff! So please keep posting!

P.S. Thanks for not posting this in the Teen forum. If you had, I could not have replied. I'm too old!

Ah, thank you! I think it was more the guilt getting to me than anything else now that you mention it, haha. (Sheepish)
In that case I guess I'll try to think of it in a less negative light. The last thing I need is more self-persecution!

IMO, nothing is off limits in fetishland, but some stuff just has to stay a fantasy.

Writing stories or comic books about lovers who do sex acts that you fancy may be cathartic.

Uuuurrgh I've been kind of thinking about that but I get too embarrassed and stop when I try, haha.
I'm kind of a prude for someone who likes these things...

Being a prude really doesn't have any connection with what you enjoy just as your sexual experience doesn't really have anything to do with it. Everyone has their own fetishes that generally fall into two categories: the kind they actually want to take part in and the kind that they find the mere idea of it arousing. Expression of your fetishes is important here but it's not really necessarily anything to worry about. Don't feel like you have to force yourself to express it but there's nothing to be ashamed of either. I think writing comics or stories would be a good way to help express what you're feeling. I myself find writing fanfiction a useful endeavor but that's just me. I hope this helped.

Your good, the range of fantasies and fetishes is mind boggling, and as has already been mentioned you have nothing to be ashamed of. Everyone has their thang.

I am with broken charger here. I co-write libertine and noir- erotica with as part of a RP Ing thing. Helps get the 'kinks'. out, as it were. (( sorry...so so sorry)) - slinks off looking -
