I wish I could get some advice this moment since I am currently suffering from this problem but that's a long shot.
My sleep has been broken and disturbed basically all my life. Always too little or too much. Now however the problem I am facing isn't the same. Not completely at least. I have woke up 4 times in the last hour and a half and each time I fall back asleep I am having nightmares. Not even when I am asleep sometimes. Like tonight my first dream was when I was half awake half asleep I felt my daughter crawl into bed with me. It wasn't that that was scary, it was just that I had the same thing happen to me last week only I was fully awake last week. Than the second time, when I just nodded off I was in the car with my husband and daughter and we were driving down the highway. I noticed my door was open (I was the driver) and tried to close it. I couldn't get it closed all the way and my husband and I started arguing about it. He than started to try and open the door all the way and close it. I tried to slow down but the more I tried to slow down the faster we were going. I literally felt the wind on my body and my entire body was shaking from the speed. I opened my eyes and saw I was in the room yet still felt the air, still heard the air and still was shaking. My eyes fought against me and won, they forced themselves shut and I wasn't about to give up so I forced one eye to squint open. I knew it wasn't real but I felt it and I was sure it was a dream even with my eyes open and me feeling everything so I tried to wake up and it didn't help. My eyes won again and they were closed, but I seriously told myself "NO!" and opened them with force and jumped up in bed. I crawled over next to my husband afraid I was loosing my mind. I went back to sleep, this time had a real nightmare and woke up. Than fell back asleep again and had a nightmare my body eventually went paralyzed than I woke up again and now here I am. Things are getting more severe with my schizophrenia and my dissociation but I don't think these are the cause of the first two "dreams" or whatever they were. I just don't get how I could be asleep yet awake at the same time?! If anyone has any kind of advice at all please feel free to share it and maybe help my sleeping get a little better next time! I'm always so tired! Take care everyone and have a wonderful night, it's off to the nightmares I go! |

hugs ((((((((((((((kris)))))))))))))))), your nightmares sound really scary. I can only suggest that when you have consciousness, confirm with yourself that you are safe in the here and now, like ground yourself. I would also suggest to avoid any scary images, television or expose, cause it may trigger more. If you are seeing a therapist to talk with them about it. Try some tea, or relaxing music before bed. I just hope that this goes away

Thank you Lorna, I try all the time when these things happen to tell myself it isn't real and it was just a dream, the only problem is that even knowing that, it doesn't go away so I don't know if it was because of the dream or one of my mental health problems.
As for not seeing any bad images... lol... I only watch the Disney Channel lol... I like how peaceful they are on the show and how small their problems are and I watch and just wish that my life could be that easy. Plus my daughter has it on that channel all day so no scary images here. Thank you for the comment and your support! It means a lot that you read and commented on this! I hope you are doing well ![]() |

kris, this still sounds like night terrors, but that doesn't take into account your schizophrenia or dissociative disorder. I don't have either of these, but I used to feel a cat crawling into bed with me. I had a cat, but it wasn't crawling into bed with me. Then I would semi-awaken to see my real room all around me, but to feel something behind me, some entity that I feared. Sometimes I would hear dogs barking behind me. The dream was recurring and progressive, and the entity progressed further and further around from behind me with each occurrence. Are you, by any chance, changing medications in any way. This was my causative factor, or sure seemed to be. To stop it, try to move some part of your body, just as you did. Then get up and walk around or do something different, to keep from falling back into the nightmare state. Just moving across the bed probably won't do it. Caring About You ~ billieJ
