Anyone else have this where you wake up just as tired as when you went to sleep? I've basically been tired for the last 6 years. Literally every single waking moment I feel tired and have no energy. I usually sleep 6-7 hours, but i usually wake up once or twice, but fall back to sleep very quickly. But in the morning I am just so exhausted I don't even want to get out of bed. I know it sounds like depression, but if it is its because I feel so tired all the time. If you were tired and had no energy for 6 straight years, wouldnt you be depressed about it? Anyway, I taken sleeping pills, but they don't work, I'm on anti depressants rite now, but they arent really helping. I just want to wake up feeling refreshed and I just never do.

Most likely your continual exhaustion is a symptom of depression which explains why it appears to be unrelated to your sleep.Have you tried obtaining the help of a counselor to try to determine what might be upsetting you and creating stress in your life?

That's a question they asked on my sleep study this weekend, are you tired when you wake up. Have you asked your pdoc or gp about getting a sleep study done? How is your health otherwise? Do you snore?

I do see a therapist right now and he has me on Effexor, been on it for about 10 weeks, im on the max dose but still exhausted all the time. When this exhaustion started back in 2005 I got a sleep study done and they said I had a very mild case of sleep apnea, but that it shouldn't cause constant exhaustion. I do snore sometimes but not throughout the night. The problem right now is that my insurance is the worst and doesnt cover anything, i really only have in case something catastrophic happens and i end up in the hospital, but it won't cover another sleep study and I can't afford to do it out of pocket. It really sucks that ppl like me and MANY others just have to suffer through their problems because the damn insurance companies have to charge $1000/mo for any type of decent insurance.

Go to your regular medical doctor and get a physical. It could be your thyroid or other hormones, anemia, or other medical problem. Rule out physical reasons, as they are often easiest to care for.

you should try eating more fish, whole grains and drinking more milk/eating yoghurt if you're not already. They can help you sleep better.

I have that ocassionaly, but not too often
Usually a nonrestful sleep is the result of the lack of REM sleep, rapid eye movement, its the final stage of sleep and its the lightest, its when most dreams happen. The other stages of sleep are for the body, but REM is for the mind, without getting enough of it your mind'll feel super tired and nasty. Try to get a bit more sleep, maybe take a power nap or two during the day, but dont take more than a 20 minute one or you'll wake up feeling groggy and probably worse than you did when you woke up. ![]()

I was curious if you remember your dreams.
I am very lucky if I ever get 3 hours of sleep in a row. I wake up a lot. But, I also remember my dreams. I have often noticed if they are not nightmares/terrors, they are very stressful. So, I am not getting real rest. And, I have begun to think I wake up because the dreams are so stressful that I need to take a deep breath. I am sort of holding my breath in my sleep from it. (totally different from sleep apnea) |

I usually remember my dreams pretty clearly. I rarely have nightmares, and don't really know if I would say my dreams are stressful, sometimes they may be, but not on a constant basis.
