I can't sleep and if/when I do it is always TERRIBLE nightmares. No meds work. And I can't focus on life anymore. It's affecting my health... I have headaches and light sensitivity. It's making my lung issues worse. And my brain can't function at all!

The nightmares haunt me for days when I sleep. So I'm afraid to shut my eyes. I'm fraud I will have another night terror about my friends being killed, or them leaving me, or me dying. I'm afraid I will kill myself in my sleep. I have cut in my sleep a few times in my past.

What can I do??!?!?!!!? I NEED HELP! Before I'm completely insane!

Can't afford a doctor. Kinda broke right now.

DO u drink anything before you sleep? Warm milk helps, but ANYTHING containing sugar will cause the weirdest bloody dreams. seriously. I used to get them all the time until I was paranoid about sleeping, and my friend had to secretly drug me to get me to sleep. Also, taking a long hot shower before bed helps. Anything relaxing. remember - NO SUGAR. other than that I really cant help... meditation is good too hunn. <3 xx Please get better?!

i'm sorry for your perdicament. I have night terrors every night for a very long time years and years I mean. i found out i had sleep apnea, use a breathing machine with air pressure to breathe, i still get the night terror dreams and have to tell myself it was just a dream when i wake up, sometimes i don't even know if it was true or not, I'm sorry i can't help you in any other way, but try getting a sleep apnea test they do them out of your home nowadays. Can you get medicaid or medicare?/

I'm with avlady; I'd go to my regular doctor anyway, that you see for your "lung issues" and check out possible physical problems. It could be that you are not breathing well when you do sleep and your body is using the nightmares to wake you up. It sounds like you might need help for your breathing, your anxiety (why you cut and, potentially, the reason for some of the dreams) and your sleeping/sleep habits.

You say you're a kid; are your parents not able to get you in to see a sleep specialist? Seeing a counselor might also be beneficial as there may be unresolved issues in your waking life that may be contributing to these dreams. Some counselors are willing to work for a reduced fee if a client has little money.

If neither of those options are open to you, I would possibly recommend visiting your school counselor who may be able to help and/or provide resources for you. I do also second the above recommendations of watching what you eat before bedtime as well as what you watch or read if you do those things before bed. While I don't experience night terrors, I do often dream about things I've seen or read just before bed.
Thanks for this!

I am 14. A kid in most people's eyes. My parents are really there for me. And what I mean but can't pay is, I can feed myself and that's really it.
Thank you so much for the advice. Unfortunately none of these options are available.

If your parents are really there for you, then I'm confused about why you have to feed yourself. If they can't help get you to a doctor, is there any other adult in your family or at school that you can go to?

It was a type-o. They AREN'T really there for me.

No, my parents are the only adults other than my sister who is away at college. And I'm in a type of homeschool.
