Recently I've been having a lot of nightmares about lack of privacy, and these have always been with either my dad or my brother (two of my abusers) catching me trying to be intimate with a partner or something like that. Trying to hide from them so I can be with someone I truly love.

But lately I've been having nightmares about about the two of them (separately) sexually abusing me. My brother once tried to molest me IRL, my dad never sexually abused me but there was a lot of sexual demoralization in my household and lots of emotional abuse about my sexuality and my body. Always comments about my breasts and my weight and my body (I was a perfect hour glass figure, like Marilyn Monroe, petite but curvy, growing up. My dad and brother made all sorts of fun of me for having a nice body and just lots of comments that made me very self conscious and hate that I looked the way I did.) My dad even made fun of me when I got my first menstruation cycle.

Anyways, I want these nightmares to go away. I know what they did to me, I know how it affected me, but I hate being reminded of it every night lately. I just hate what the PTSD does to me that it will find something in every day life that pulls up these memories and then traps me in a nightmare with them at night.

Any thoughts on how to exorcise these nightmares? I can handle other types of nightmares, but these sexual abuse ones are the worst.

Thanks,
seesaw

Dope! I've noticed that lithium and Seroquel have each had noticeable effects (both positive and negative) on my dreams over the years, but I have no idea if it's appropriate to prescribe them for your problems. Talk to your doc. An alternative would be to talk out all that angst with a good therapist, but that takes time, money and effort. And a good therapist.
Thanks for this!

They sound related to what is happening at work. That other woman is accepting of such abusive behavior from your boss and it is to her advantage. You feel youre in a no-win situation again.

Im not sure how to break out of this pattern. My family dreams started improving after years of therapy, but i was no longer in the work force, and i do still have bad work dreams. The pattern my family started, i continued at work, unfortunately.
Thanks for this!

A real life can be causing this. Are you in a situation like this?

Am I in a situation like what? I already described what the past abuse was. And I no longer have contact with my brother or father, so I am not sure what you mean by your question.

Look at situation that mirrors what you were once in, such as work or a friendship. A situation where you feel controlled or belittled?

Hi,
I don't know what medicines you're taking at present?
The dreams are about your sleep at present. You need a veryemotional dream to wake you up and your subconscious is simply using bad past experiences to create your dreams.
If you changed your medication recently that is probably the cause of the dream, however, new emotional upsets or health problems could also cause the dreams.

Had to think about this for awhile. Then had a panic attack tonight thinking about interacting with my boss and feeling flashbacks to my family situation with my father and brother. You are so right...I really don't know how to cope with this, other than the Xanax Rx my pdoc has provided me with.

It's going to be a rough week.

Thanks for clarifying. Won't go into too much detail because it's triggering, but yes, you are right. I didn't see the connection until unaluna pointed it out but it's very connected to my work situation right now.

I want to continue to keep working but these problems I have are so disabling. I came off of SSDI and now I almost feel like I need to go back on it because I feel like I can't function. Like I'm destabilizing.

Thanks for the feedback, all.

I do not know how to help with this, but I wanted to post and say that I am sorry that you had to go through this. That should not happen to anyone, and to come from two people who are very close to you makes the whole situation worse. I have intense dreams to where what I am dreaming feels like real life, and for you to have those kinds of dreams and they may feel so real, is horrible. I empathize with you. I hope these feelings, and dreams get better!
Thanks for this!
