How does one like their gender? I am a man and this is difficult for me.

EC,

I was curious if you may have been raised in a female dominated environment? I was, and I've always had trouble relating to men. My T helped me figure that one out. Funny though, my son is my best friend in the whole world. Go figure...

Just a thought.

I find life difficult for me, and I doubt it has to do with my gender. Liking your group

Can you make a list of things that you like and don't like about being a man? Maybe that would help in figuring it out.

I can't ever remember wanting to be a man, even when I wanted to beat someone up! LOL I've often wanted to be a cat, though! Liking your group

ditto that, sky. Liking your group

EC,
what about being a male bothers you? i mean which stereotypes/statistics are the ones that make you distressed about being male? for some of us (like me) who are survivors of abuse we tend to see things two ways... one, we wish to identify with the gender of our abuser and see that gender as the gender with the control/power/etc. and it is distressing to know that you are part of the weaker gender. now on the other hand, we are often afraid of people of that gender and do not trust them because theirs is the gender of our perpetrator(s). does that make sense? it's sort of a catch22....

more information about what bothers you so much about being male might be helpful. Liking your group
