buttrfli42481 double yayyyyyyyyyyyy that you got the job !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nola22 I had a passion for cooking and baking. I used to love love love it more than anything. Do you watch the food channel? I used to watch that a lot. Creating beautiful and outrageous confections and foods were my passion. And I got to feed people. what could be better? I even used to crystallize pansys to put on cakes etc. Oh I loved baking and cooking. But now I cannot taste any of the good foods. Anxiety took its toll on my digestive system. So I love hearing about other people doing it. Thanks everyone for posting. I love reading everyones words. And as always,. thank you Sundog for, so lovingly, tending this garden Today I got out of bed. That was not easy. And it took many tries. Finally though I did it. Although it was shamefully late. I went to the co-op to discuss with the vitamin manager which whey powder would be best. I really didnt do much, to be honest with you. But I am here. And I did that well. I survived another day. |

Very crabby and depressed tonight. Having this thread to work on is a nice way to pull out of that at least somewhat. I avoided talking to folks today so as not to take it out on people. I caught myself being too talkative when I was at lunch with folks (which I worked on pulling out of - sad that it wasn't more successful). But this is a "did right" thread! I exercised and ate better than sometimes, and did some chores for the neighbor who hurt her arm (horse kicked it), and fed the horses, and tried to make my communications today pleasant rather than needy. And... I read a trash novel to keep myself distracted. And worked on a volunteer project. These are all fragmentary things but I am working on keeping them going. I also appreciate that this thread is here to be part of managing the off feelings. I write lots of words - it's not really that I'm doing that much - but focusing on even the little things where they can be seen IS a help. Have a nice night!

I've gotta offer buttrfli a Homer Simpson-esque woo hoo!! for her accomplishment in landing the job. Well done, and what better way to celebrate than a great meal?
sunsetsunrise, you must tell me how to crystallize flowers...I imagine your creations were beautiful and outrageous, as you'd said! Baking was my first foray into the culinary arts, from my initial success with chocolate chip cookies--I never knew it was so easy and fun to make something so seemingly unendingly delicious, but I was also a little kid at the time! I liked decorating my own cakes, and cookies of all types were always a favorite. I stopped baking due to an unbelievable life event, and because the fun was so tied up with who was lost. Baked again for the first time last Xmas. Cooking, however, is all still so new to me! I've been learning so much, though that's on hold now too. I grew up in a household brimming with creative cooks, so it seemed a natural progression, though I put it off as long as I could in favor of eating. ![]() I am sorry that anxiety has put obstacles in your path of enjoyment, sunsetsunrise, and hold out hope you may regain all you've lost, with gusto. Everyone else, please don't think I don't read and appreciate your accomplishments. I do. ![]() I wore a new t-shirt today, one I like a lot, with long sleeves and a scoop neck. I also talked instead of yelled when I got upset--that wasn't easy. |

CONGRATULATIONS on getting the job!!! (((((((((buttrfli))))))) That's awesome!
![]() Drooling at the thought of your home-made chocolate chip cookies!! ((((((Nola)))) ![]() Yay for wearing a new t-shirt and feeling good in it, and double yay for not yelling when you were upset (I really know how hard that is!) That's huge! ((((((Nola)))))) ((((((((((sunsetsunrise)))))))))))) Well done for getting out of bed. Some days that is the most monumental task. It's a great achievement that you did that ![]() ![]() (((((((Wallowa)))))))) It sounds as though you did a ton of things right today!!! I'm sorry you're feeling depressed this evening and I really hope it lifts ![]() I got a cell phone today!!! From my husband as an early Birthday present!! I knew about it ahead of time since we had talked about which phone etc. We both got the same matching phone and it's been a lot of fun "playing" with them today! I haven't had a cell phone in about 10 years! My husband hasn't either. We both tend to communicate with friends via email. In fact, I don't like using the telephone at all!! But one of my goals for this year is to be more sociable and a cell phone seems like a good step in that direction (plus I can email with it!! ![]() Hugs to all ![]()

I had a fun night out last night and just kind of let myself go and have fun. I normally try to keep a very close reign on everything. Today I slept in, watched some TV with my guy and took a nap. Not a whole lot, but I'm not feeling guilty for my lazy day. (I'm beginning to understand that sometimes its OK, especially when I'm not just not doing b/c of the anxiety/depression but was a choice.) And I'll be cooking supper here shortly and probably doing the dishes.

So far I've had a very laid back day, I guess that is a do right?
Reading the previous post just made me remember I bought chocolate chips so I can make cookies and I did tell DH that I'd make some today. I hope there is enough butter left. I don't want to run out to the store at almost 9pm! I gave Jack his first bath tonight. Dog hair all over the bathroom! He is so fluffy I can't stand it. Just seeing him makes me want to pet and hug him. ![]() |

Yay everyone! I haven't been on in a few days and had to go back 6 pages or so to catch up - yay for all the do-rights!
Last night / today I helped my ex-bf (who's also a friend) clean out his closet and living room. I also installed the wall files I got him for Christmas and helped him get them organized. When it was all said and done we had about 7 bags of trash and 5 that were going to good will. I cleaned out my goddaughter's dresser and hung all her clothes up in her closet. I also helped her clean out her room. I helped her put together the Harry Potter Lego set she got for Christmas focusing on how to follow the directions (she just turned 6) I helped her pick out clothes this morning and french braided her hair into pigtails. I haven't been on in a while because I was working on her birthday present... a digital photo frame (she got one of those "kid proof" cameras for Christmas). So I took all of her pictures and put them on the frame then took all her dad's pictures from the last year or so (550 of them) and edited them and put some of the best ones on her frame too. It's been a productive few days. You can now walk through their house and into all the closets :-)

Today is day three of the re-establishment of my vitamin regimen.
Over the last few weeks, I've not been very conscientious in that regard, and I am attempting to reclaim what I knew as my life in bits. Taking vitamins seemed like an easy, safe place to start, and I don't fight it as much as other activities. sundog, it's wonderful you got a new cell phone. I hope you have hours of fun reconnecting with everyone. ![]() I would like an easy, laid back day too; that sounds lovely. ![]() Everyone here is awesome. What a great thread. |

What a great idea for a thread! You guys are awesome.
I actually just woke up. But one good thing I did was come here so I could start my day on a good footing instead of insta-sad. Yesterday I tried to be good, and I think I did well! I woke up, and 30 minutes later joined a race that was passing my house. I feel really good about that. I used to be in pretty great shape, and that makes me encouraged I can return there. Then, I went to a health fair and did things that were good for me. Even though I didn't want to go, I went to my friend's birthday party because I care for her. And I had a good time, too. Then I made dinner for my whole family and my cousin and her baby and my friend. And it was healthy (ish). And I didn't drink a beer to go to bed, which I sometimes do. I just came here and quieted my mind in a better way. |

Way to go everyone. This thread helps me so much to focus on the good
![]() So I also just got up not too long ago. But so far I have let a whiny dog out and back in (twice), got myself coffee, came on PC, started the laundry, and have played with whiny dog. I just went in pantry to get dog food, and that is a project for today! Wow does that need to be organized before it drives me crazier than it already is! |

This is a wonderful thread. All of you and your efforts are awesome. I went to a music-making party last night despite social anxiety. I had some pleasant conversations and met new people, always a good thing. Enjoyed the dessert table (bourbon sauce...who'da thought it). I made mistakes singing a song, but am practicing my goal for today of not bashing myself, being kinder, more forgiving toward myself. Success so far. I haven't really started my day yet, other than feeding my dog, checking email and PC.

Nola22 - good job re-establishing your vitamin routine.. keep it up!
alias123 - that was really bold to join a race going by your house, good for you PleaseHelp - yay for being patient with whiny dog :-) lavieenrose - congratulations on your successful party-going noirkitten - I bet it feels really good to have half your room cleaned I slept in (which I needed) and am planning on spending most of the day sitting or laying down; staying off my injured knee. I'm not wearing the brace today because it was hurting me so I'm taking it especially easy.

Dragged myself kicking and screaming to the pool and swam some laps. Yay. Did a load of laundry. Nothing too glamorous. Two different people came over to meet and walk my dog, who overwhelms me sometimes. Sometimes, it takes a village to raise a dog. There's a great organization, Time Trade, where you provide a skill and utilize other people's skills in exchange. That's where my dog walkers came from. I'm learning that it's okay to ask for help.

Let me add: today I organized the entire pantry (took me over an hour), cleaned the kitchen (wiped down counters and cupboards; did dishes; swept floor; washed some walls - got love kids and a dog; washed the floor - on hands and knees); did laundry; cleaned out a closet; asked the BF to help with the bathroom and to make kids' beds. I am debating on vacuuming, as I am exhausted.
Good job to everyone else! |

I got up and went to SS and church, ate lunch with my hubby, shopped a bit and walked around the stores for some exercise, wrote a devotion for a newspaper, and corresponded with some friends. Now I'm on PC. However, that said, I'm now pooped!

What a great organization that is (((((lavieenrose)))) I'm so glad you're getting some help with your energetic doggy!!!!!
Well done everyone!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I cleaned the inside of my car and all the dog beds in it! And I wiped down everything with a clorox type spray! To my husband's great credit he vacuumed the inside for me! My car is basically a dog-mobile! I always have the two back seats down flat and I put blankets and dogbeds there so my 3 can travel comfortably!! Unfortunately with this wet weather, the back of the car had started to look and smell awful. It seemed pointless to clean it when I knew it would just get wet and dirty again right away, but I couldn't ignore it any longer!!!! And now it's really clean (for five minutes!!)

Thats good Gus. even breathing is doing something right. You did a lot right. An hour before now, I read what many people wrote earlier in the day. I was inspiried by all you wrote to do something more. So I did my laundry and washed the bathroom floor, on my hands and knees. Cleaned toilet etc. Now I have to wash many sweaters by hand. But I doubt that will be tonight. Perhaps one per day. I have to wash them by hand. Roll them in a towel and then put them on a big towel to dry. It all works out great. Just have to get motivated. Washing machine would work to wash them. But I do not want all that sweater lint getting in the machine. Its old. Thanks again eveeryone for what you wrote

I woke up extremely late this morning, but didn't let it stop me from wavering from my plans. Had potluck at church then went to a friends house so I didn't have to drive another hour round trip to church for the evening. Had a pot pie for dinner. Now I am getting ready to go to bed.
Thanks for all the congrats!

You folks are one seriously motivated group. I am especially floored by everyone who manages to keep their home, bedroom, bathroom, car, pantry, closet, friends' places--you name it--clean and tidy. Now my place isn't gross or anything, but cleaning is NOT a task I number among my favorites or at which I'm great. Try to imagine where I live as a slightly messy cave with a lot of books.
![]() That's not entirely true, and I do keep my place reasonably clean. Though I must admit that noirkitten's post about her half-cleaned room reminded me of a strategy I had when I was a kid--the half of the room that was clean often faced the mountain of stuff that had been shoved on the other half so the first half counted as clean. Does that make sense? ![]() My contribution: early this morning, I took a walk on a frozen tundra that was once a city. Normally I appreciate pre-dawn desolation, snow, and cold, but I don't recognize much in what used to be my world anymore. When I returned, I hacked at mountains of frozen snow and ice that had decided to grip my car from the bottom and sides. I'm sure my neighbors loved me for that. ![]() Wishing everyone a happy, productive day. |
