Haha, 35. I actually expected it to be lower, 'cause most days I don't like myself very much. ^.^ It's funny, though; people who meet me initially say I'm absolutely confident. I love doing plays, being on stage, etc.... weird. Self-Esteem Quiz

You have scored 31.

What your scoring means

The chances are that you find life very difficult indeed. You may well have a number of failed relationships behind you. Perhaps you've had problems with anger, or jealousy that have caused a split with a partner. You may also have found that your working life has been extremely disappointing. But you can change things. Read the 'Self- esteem' article on this site in the Sex and Relationships section and try to do the exercises we recommend. If you do all of these, you'll begin to see yourself in a new light. It will also help you to read the books we've suggested.

You will certainly benefit from some form of counselling. And it's worth trying to get this on the NHS. So ask your GP if he or she can refer you for some professional help.

Finally, many people with this kind of score are actually seriously depressed. Do you think this could apply to you?

i dont think im depressed....

I got that in November of last year.

Okay, well I retook it and got lower. I didn't even think that was possible!

I scored 51

Many people think you are confident and in charge of your life. You're not so sure! It may be that you had a difficult upbringing with parents who were too demanding of you. Or perhaps you have always felt that you're not as bright as other people think you are. Or maybe you feel unlovable.

If you're in a relationship, it's likely that you'll often feel anxious about it. Sometimes you may worry that you'll 'muck things up'. You may also have serious concerns that your partner will 'find you out' and decide you're not worth loving

Thats spot on actually!

Congruence, Petulant Wolf! At least feel what you feel like? My middle name was "Danaher" (Dan-a-her, my grandmother's maiden name) and I use to call myself/pronounce it "Damn-it-her" :-) I got really good at it until it worried me that I was getting a little too good at it and enjoying it too much? That and referring to myself as a "psychiatric basket case" :-) But I think we need to identify with these things a bit instead of only struggle against them?

Struggling against means there is something to the other side that is independent/not "us"? If I were you I'd spend some time referring to yourself as a CUDSSA :-) (or maybe just CUDSA which is easier to remember/pronounce). It's YOUR label so make it completely your judgement/label and eventually you'll get tired of it and change it to something more pleasing.

I decided I wanted to grow up to be "warm, wise, and whimsical" so I had a teeshirt made that says, "3W Woman" which I wore to remind myself what direction I wanted to head. It's about "focus;" you can't learn/develop self-esteem if you only look at the other side. We're a mix of things; you're not just a CUDSA and/or CUDSA doesn't have to mean what it does now. You could be a Cuddly Underneath D'ese Symptoms of Anxiety person :-)

I scored a 63. Mostly confident but I know the exact areas where I lack confidence.....being graded or evaluated on something I have done, and job search/interviews. Usually, I question me qualifications if it is not a direct match to my skills. Is this characteristic of a self perfectionist?

You have scored 54.

What your scoring means

Many people think you are confident and in charge of your life. You're not so sure! It may be that you had a difficult upbringing with parents who were too demanding of you. Or perhaps you have always felt that you're not as bright as other people think you are. Or maybe you feel unlovable.

If you're in a relationship, it's likely that you'll often feel anxious about it. Sometimes you may worry that you'll 'muck things up'. You may also have serious concerns that your partner will 'find you out' and decide you're not worth loving.

Have a look at the article called 'Self- esteem', which is on this website in the Sex and Relationships section. There are plenty of tips in there to help you. And if you do a bit of work on improving your self-esteem, you'll find that you have fewer worries and that life runs more smoothly.
