Well, I scored 58.
Good self-esteem on the whole. But you sometimes fail to believe in yourself enough. Remember you are a special and unique person. Many people in this category feel confident in what they do for a living – and get a lot of affirmation from that. It's important, however, to feel good about who you ARE, not just about what you do. Have a think about this.

These words are so true for how I feel.....
I am often thinking that I don't deserve what I have or that I am unworthy!!!
But I am trying my damned hardest to replace the negative with positive & so far so good, If I had taken that test a couple of months ago, I would have a completely different score, as I saw absolutely no worth in myself, but I am learning to love who I am!!!

I scored 49.
Many people think you are confident and in charge of your life. You're not so sure! It may be that you had a difficult upbringing with parents who were too demanding of you. Or perhaps you have always felt that you're not as bright as other people think you are. Or maybe you feel unlovable.

If you're in a relationship, it's likely that you'll often feel anxious about it. Sometimes you may worry that you'll 'muck things up'. You may also have serious concerns that your partner will 'find you out' and decide you're not worth loving.

32.. it thinks I have failed relationships - but I never had a realtionship. I guess that is failed. I don't know, I don't believe much in these tests. It's fun tho.

You have scored 39.

What your scoring means

The chances are that you really don't like yourself much at all. And yet nature has made you utterly unique, and you have as much right to be on this planet and to do as well as anyone else. You have great personal qualities – believe me. But they do need bringing out.

Have a look at the 'Self- esteem' article which is in the Sex and Relationships section of this site. There is a lot of advice in it, and it would help you to adopt it. Also have a look at the two recommended books. Either of these books could change your whole life.

You'll also notice that I mention self-assertiveness classes. Joining one would help you to sound and look more confident – and that would encourage you to care more about yourself. Most public libraries can tell you about such classes. Or you can ring the Further Education department at your council offices. You would also benefit from some therapy. The treatment of choice for poor self-esteem is cognitive behavioural therapy. The chances are that you're not 'bad' enough to qualify for this under the NHS. But if you want to go the private route, email the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies: info@babcp.org.uk. For other forms of psychotherapy or counselling, contact the British Association for Counselling on: 01788 578328.

I scored a 71. I really liked this sentence, "You may well have had problems with valuing yourself in the past, but you have become a confident person with a proper appreciation of yourself." Made me feel therapy all those years was worth it :-)

I liked that sentence too, Perna. It made me feel like the crappy stuff I've gone through really has made me a stronger, more confident person. I've always had high self-esteem, but after being through some very difficult experiences, my self-esteem is higher. I know that I'm stronger than I believed I was.

I'm positive it would have been lower in the past. So I'm just going ahead with the idea that I'm making progress. Self-Esteem Quiz
