I had an emotionally hard week.

Since going through two major losses in 2002, I just can't handle the same level of stress that I used to.

As some of you may have read, I have been involved in a three-week online class to become certified/selected to teach online at a local university. A lot is riding on my being successful in this endeavor. The last week of the course was one day shorter than the previous weeks, and with everything else on my plate, I really needed the extra day, but alas things don't always go the way we want them to.

Anyway at one point in the week, I became so stressed my self-confidence failed for about half a day. I couldn't believe that two of my closest friends said to me, "You know you really should be more confident, and have more self-esteem." Has this happened to anyone?

We have had financial problems since I lost my big-paying job in 2002, and having so much pain and surgeries on my feet that I think that has affected my self-confidence too.

Feeling a little down,

EJ

(((((((( EJ )))))))))))

It doesn't help when people tell you to do something you're already struggling to do your best at. People tell me to be more confident too. Yeah, I would like to, but I'm just not.

When do you find out if you are selected? I bet you did fantastic!

Hi Rap,

Thank you for your note validating my feelings.

I'm 99.9% sure that I obtained my certification. It may be a few weeks before I receive official notification.

In the meantime I have two classes to teach starting next Monday at the community college where I have been teaching for 2-1/2 years now.

The pay is so much better at the university where I've been "auditioning" for three weeks. Has this happened to anyone?

You guys will be among the first to know!!

It feels so good just to get back to the rest of my life.

EJ

I think everything ebbs and flows, including self confidence. And there is such as thing as too much stress that can get to even the best Pollyanna I think. Your foot surgeries, "changing" jobs, and then on top of that, the stress of a new training situation, wouldn't be easy for anyone!

It's ironic isn't it? One of the things that makes me doubt myself the most is when someone tells me I should have more confidence.
Some people don't realize the weight of their words.

Good luck on that University job!
