Completely ridiculous!

Everyone here has told you that you are seeing things in a warped way. Why will you not get help for that? I mean, if you don't want to take prescription medication, then I guess you're limited to alternate means, but when you feel THIS bad about yourself, why are you not doing something about it (besides coming here and hanging around the rest of us wackos)???

LMo, how little you really know me.

You could have addressed my comment on how so many with this "disorder" have advanced much more in the relationship/romance/sex area than I only dream of.

Who ever said the truth has to always be peaches and cream?

No one should make any personal inferences about themselves on the basis of whether or not I acknowledge them.

(a) I'm the stereotypical "absent-minded professor" and was that way decades before I become a professor. I get absorbed with the life I live in my head and become oblivious to what's going on around me. Sometimes people bring it to my attention, and I apologize. But obviously, these are only the people with enough self-confidence to ask, "whassup?" Others would go away feeling badly and possibly blaming themselves, instead of me.

(b) My eyesight isn't that good. But it's good enough so that I don't always wear my glasses. This means people who are more than about 6 feet away are not recognizable.

(c) My hearing isn't so good. I came across an article about mild hearing loss last week, and I realize that I would benefit from a hearing aid. But that's not gonna happen til I'm employed again. So my students will continue to put up with me saying, "Can you repeat that? My hearing isn't so good in my left ear."

In short, what is happening in the exterior world isn't always All About Me.

Maybe because he's the "squeaky wheel"? Take it back anytime you want, Hun. None of us, including Gary, will mind. When little things knock us down

I would have, but I'm still in shock that you are not in therapy about this.

Ok, so regarding your comment, I still think it has way more to do with your attitude and confidence level than anything else. I would bet my house on it.

Sorry for the hijack -- it was my fault. For some reason, I'm out to prove Iggy wrong because it hurts me that he twists things around to his detriment the way he does.

I'll start a new one when I get back home.

Love,
LMo

Well, yeah! It hasn't been that long since you joined the forum and even less time since you and Lee Ann have started posting to each other. Sorry, but that sounds like a put down to me. As if she should have known better? How?

Just some constructive critisizm. When little things knock us down

Exactly!! That's something we should always keep in mind while our self-esteem is low, while we're depressed, if we live with anxiety! We tend to get all wrapped up in ourselves and think the whole world is pointing their finger, looking at us and judging us. Not so! It's not always, or hardly ever all about us!

The way my T got me to stop thinking that is by asking me if I was always that "arrogant" that I thought I was the center of everyone's attention. OUCH! LOL Heck no! If that wasn't going to bring me back down to earth, not much else was! When little things knock us down

Good points, Wants2! When little things knock us down More of your wisdom, please! When little things knock us down

I'm sorry that Wants2Fly is upset that I hijacked her thread. It's not uncommon for threads to wander in different directions.

If some people cause such a thing to happen, it's no big deal. If I do it, it becomes a problem. Go figure.

But I don't have to attempt to figure, really.

Forget about looks. There's a more valid reason people shouldn't like me and it's not just because of my negative attitude about some things.

It's because I'm "me", plain and simple.

The more I express myself and show the true me, negative AND POSITIVE, the more others withdraw.

I'm so sorry for being me. But that's who I am. When little things knock us down

You're so not right, Iggy. Do me and yourself a favor, will you? Read the CBT post and then write down some of your thinking. Let's work on it together.

No, Gary, it's because I'm weary of this constantly turning everything around, so that everyone has to gather around you chanting "Oh, poor IG, what can we do to help, to make life better for you". From my perspective, you get more attention than anyone in Depression. You've received more concentrated attention than I have in many, many months here -- all the while grumbling, "No one likes me."

It seems to me that your attitudes serve you remarkably well and get you all the attention you could possibly want.

So there, IG, I'm jealous of all the attention you get for yourself.

Well said, Wants2. When little things knock us down You stated your feelings without accusing.

If you've been feeling ignored, I'm sorry. Perhaps we need to work on getting you to accept all the good that is in you. I've seen you "fly" so many times and you've contributed to possitively here that I've forgetten that you need possitive reinforcement. I'm truly sorry. Please forgive me.
