One Day At A Time
There are two days in every week about which we should not worry--two days which should be kept free from fear and apprehension. One of thesr days is "yesterday", with its mistakes and cares, its faults and blunders, and its aches and pains. Yesterday has passed forever beyond our control. All the money in the world cannot bring back yesterday. We cannot undo a single act we performed. We cannot erase a single word we said. Yesterday is gone. The other day we should not worry about is "tomorrow". Tomorrow is beyond our immediate control. Tomorrow's sun will mask our clouds. But it will rise. Until it does, we have no stake in tomorrow. This leaves only one day - "Today" Anyone can fight the battles of just one day, It is when you and I add the burdens of those two awful eternities - yesterday and tomorrow - that we break down Let us therefore live one day at a time -- author unknown Angie

Wonderful, Angie! I've read that somewhere before but I didn't remember it all. I'm so glad you posted it here so we can go back and reread and reread to remind ourselves.

I have to say, that everybody needs their time here. We all have needs. All of us. I to feel ignored at times. We all do. I am sorry for that. I will try to be more attentive to everyone in need. If you read my postings in Wants2's thread, you know you're not alone, eh? Maybe we ALL feel ignored at times.

Hi Wants,
I'd like to pick up on the part of your post about the job application and what you said about 'lying' to a prospective employer (or agent). In my experience there are two worlds; the one that we want to live in and the real one. In the real world, in the world of competitive jobseeking, employers are looking to pick up just the right piece of candy, anything else won't do. If you are not just the right flavour, then forget it. That's the way they work, and I wish it were different. In this environment job seekers will say anything to get the work, I know this because I used to teach government programmes for jobseeking and it was policy to encourage people to lie, calling it 'reframing'. I think that we need to separate out our own private space from the 'dog eat dog' jungle of the real world. The rules, IMHO, are different for each place. Cheers, Myzen. |
