I have been having flashbacks on and off for the past year, and I'm having a lot of trouble believing that anything like this could really have happened. How do you know for sure? It scares me, and I still saw this man up until last year and it used to freak me out each time I saw him. Now it is all resurfacing again.

New,

You might be glad to run into me right now...go figure im just now going through the exact same thing. In fact it scares me so much i just had to tell my boyfriend who i live with to give me some physical space because i couldnt deal with the flashbacks so bad. Mine are more feelings and thoughts and an occasional memory or two. I talked to my grandmother and she said some of that stuff could be fictious..just the brains way of dealing with stress...you know what i say to that...yea riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. Keep holding strong and get help as soon as possble!!! This is very serious..alot of us here know what you are feelilng and know that it is anything but fun..in fact i wouldnt wish this even on my worse enemy!!! Good luck and pm me anytime if you need me or need to talk. Keep us posted!

love, Inny P.S. Welcome to PC!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome. Lots of supportive people here. Sounds like it may be supressed Traumatic events. Things that you buried long ago, starting to resurface. I would not write it off as ficticious, for sure. Therapy can bring to the surface. You really should think about seeing a Therapist. Wish you the best.

hi there youve made it to a great place full of awesome ppl like inny and cajun with supportive msgs and great advice

there are many that know of what you go thru including me with our own flashbacks and trauma

i agree with inny and cajun that you should seek help.. since ur in aust like me and if u dont have a T or GP with mental health knowledge there are some great resources on the web to help locate some... PM me if you want the links...theres also a program which gives you 6 free sessions with a T per year..although you may need/want more...

take care new....

Hello New Wst.
There are a number of reasons that you may be experiencing the Flashbacks you are having at this time.
I would highly suggest getting assessed by a mental health professiona so that you can find out what is going on so that you can be helped with what you are going through at this time. You do not have to suffer alone there is help for the problems that you are having at this time. PM anytime, I will be seeing you in chat next week take care and good day. Soidhonia
