Over the past couple of weeks I have accepted as a reality my inner child. I have read about this many times over the past few years but never really "got it." I tend to be a doubting Thomas and don't trust easily--I want proof! About two weeks ago during a meditation tape I was listening to, I actually envisioned my inner child for the first time. I have not been able to talk to her, though. I think that this is a healing experience that will continue to deepen. Hmmmm.

Oh, I do too, sister. Awesome work!

Have you ever listened to the cd's by shaina noll? They're especially for the inner child work and boy did they reach me in the deepest of parts.

"Songs for the Inner Child" by Shaina Noll is amazing for this work.

"you can relax now" starts out...

You can relax now
Go on and open your eyes
Breathe deeply now
I am with you

Oh my sweet, sweet child
Who do you think you are
You are the child of God
And that will never change

It goes on to speak of the "bad bad dream" and treatment, but assures of love.

Good stuff!

I just listened to it again (a clip) here: http://cdbaby.com/cd/shainanoll1

It has some of her songs. click on "you can relax now". Another good one (but triggering) is, "How could anyone". I also like "Return Again" and "It's a joy to get to Know You".

This is amazing, healing work for anyone who has hurt inside...especially a hurt child or inner child.

I also took this cd to t's office where he played it. Oh, was there amazing work in those sessions...

I just listened to it too.. thank you for sharing that, it was lovely. I had heard " How could Anyone" before. I've been trying to connect with my inner child as well. Having a hard time doing it though and I'm not sure why. FaithisAlive

Years ago when I was in therapy, my T turned me onto this tape. I was amazed at how lovely and touching it was and how it relaxed both my inner child and myself. Unfortunately I lost the tape, but I will definitely order a cd now. I have missed hearing those lovely tunes!

I'll never forget my first meeting with my inner child at my T's office. The experience was so moving and so emotional. Even now as I write this post I am in tears thinking about it.

I'm so glad you were able to connect with your inner child. It is so important to give creedance and hear what that lovely child has to say!

I'm glad, y'all. The Child Within

A LOVELY friend (SweetCrusader), she actually was a member here for years, turned me on to this when I was having difficultly getting past barriers.

This tape opened all kinds of doors for me...still can.

I can't wait to listen. If I weren't working on a deadline right now I would be plugged in. I will report back.

Thanks friends. The Child Within

By the way, my little girl (inner) has a new doll sitting on her dresser.....one she never had long ago.

How do you ever get over the sadness of a lost childhood. ? How can I reconnect with the inner child when I feel like shes died? I feel so disconnected from that part of my life, but I cant cry about it - I wish I could, I really do. I feel like I didn't exist as a little girl. I am working on this, but can you ever retrieve something that feels like it wasn't even there? I feel sad, but not for me/her. Sometimes it all feels so confusing.

((Kinder))

I have just begun to see my inner child and still can't talk to her. Your little girl is there, just hiding. I also can't cry...don't know if I'm numb or if it's the anti-d's or both. I am working with a therapist. Is this something you can do for yourself? Maybe you can look on the internet for inner child books? Also, see above for music Kimmydawn recommends. It's beautiful.

Best of luck. Take care.

Hi sister, thanks for your reply. Yes, I do have a therapist. She has been talking to me about inner child work for a few weeks. I also have a few books that I have read. I hope you post more on your progress, would love to know how you are going. I truly hope that I do find that little girl some day.!!! Thanks again.

Great post. I'm too connected with my inner child, to the point I want to get rid of it. One time I cant stop acting like I'm three. rite now Ive organized a play room for myself and will walk around in pig tails and go to the toy shop and by barbies. It is rather pathetic and it actually hinders more than helps me.

My inner child is more a detterant from reality. So is too much of your inner child a bad thing? The Child Within

hi sherryanne. I cant ever imagine feeling that way! What does your T say about it (if you have one). It does seem a little over connected, but then thats just my opinion. I wonder if anybody else has done this?
