Has anybody else here ever experienced this?...
When I went to my last session, I was reliving a memory of getting hit by my dad and I was feeling really panicked. My T told me to follow that feeling, but I got this image in my head of her coming over and hitting me like he did, so I had to leave the feelings and leave the memory because on an emotional level, I felt I was about to get beaten by my T! Is this totally crazy? SC "Blessed be the cracked, for they let in the light" -Author Unknown

No you are not crazy honey, I think what your therapist said was right. In order to deal with the memorys you have to get it all out on the table. I'm sorry that it got to that point where you felt you had to leave. But make sure you bring it up to her next time, so she can help you with that. Take care, and no you are not a psycho, you are just going through a rough patch, and you will over come this. Thanks, Sundance. I know I do have to get it all out on the table. I'm trying to figure out about why I imagined her attacking me when I tried, though. It's so confusing. Thanks for your support. I really need it right now!

The mind is a powerful thing. Talking about it likely triggered that to happen. Power of the mind.
I know it is confusing and it's hard to understand. Let me give you an example of power of the mind, my psychiatrist told me it because I had a weird thing happen to me a little while ago. There were 2 researchers in the jungle, near the equator ... and it's super hot there obviously. ![]() Power of the mind. Now what happened to me was that I saw our car drive away, and thought where is my dad going? I yelled down to my twin and asked her where he'd be off to, she said likely to the store. Thought nothing of it. About an hour later I'm sitting in my livingroom and I see my dad pull in with the van. Well I freaked out and asked him if he had the pontiac, he said no i've been out all day and had the van. I called my mom at work and asked her if she came home for something, she said no she's been at work all day. Power of the mind. I associated seeing my dad in a car , and literally saw him drive away, when it was likely someone else in the identical car pulling out of my driveway to turn around. But I swear I saw him, because I never saw anyone pull in my driveway. Power of the mind. Interesting huh? That is likely what happened to you with your doctor, seeing her come at you. Does that make sense? <font color=red>~Sundance~</font color=red> <font color=blue>"Never react emotionally to criticism. Analyze yourself to determine whether it is justified. That is so true. That's a cool story. I will have to remember it. I emailed my T and she explained to me that it was transference, and I was doing just fine. That was a relief! It was hard to tell this person that I've known for four years and trusted, someone I know is safe, that I thought she would hurt me! But she understood. So everything is going to be okay eventually. I just have to work through this tough experience. Thanks for posting a response. I really needed some help. ((((((((((((Sundance))))))))))))))

No, it is not crazy, you are fine, it was perhaps, some "stuff" coming to the surface getting prepared to over come it, just a wild guess on my part.
This is one of the ways therapy can help a person release and learn coping skills, it also allows things to go and stay in the past, and moving forward. I think this may be helping you, so do not be hard on yourself. (((((((((((((((( SweetCrusader )))))))))))))))) DE In giving advice seek to help, not please your friend SOLON

You are welcome SC
That makes alot of sense, and it's not your fault that this was the image you recieved, i'm glad you were able to talk it out with your T and let her know what you are and were feeling at the time.
